I sometimes wonder in darker moments if Amazon might not be using DPR as a branch of it's marketing department.

I have ordered this Manfrotto twistgrip. It is second hand so if it doesn't work out I will not feel too disappointed. I intend to use this with my GM5 for stills and some handheld 1080p footage. ...

Had a chance to play with the Panasonic G100 recently and though I have no interest in vlogging I found that for photos, holding the mini tripod/selfie stick (that comes with the G100) in my left ...

The new GFX100s looks not too dissimilar to my X-H1. To be honest I'd be quite happy if the X-H2 was a smaller version of the GFX100s ( and a third the price). I like the design aesthetic of the ...

This lens has a lot going for it the least not being its flexibility; it serves as a nice portrait lens with enough background separation and compression (for my taste) and as a very sharp lens ...

Not to scale...the GM5 is tiny. My beloved GM5 paired with the Leica branded 15mm f1.7 lens sure does resemble the appearance of the "Q" :-)

Sure....but...the market isn't always the arbiter of what it wants. A billion $ advertising industry works very successfully to convince the market of what it should want that it didn't want 5 ...

Think probably no IBIS but it might come paired with the new 27mm WR lens as the kit lens. Given that it doesn't make much sense to pair a WR lens with a non WR body it would seem a possibility ...

Got to disagree about it not making sense to compare the X-S10 and X-H1. Have you read Jeff Keller's Initial Review right here on DPReview? This is what he says right at the start of his initial ...

OK your point taken. Fair enough. No doubt Fuji sales and marketing know exactly who will find this camera attractive and what price point it can sell well at. Although having said that the Fuji ...

On a more positive note I should add that actually seeing the X-S10 gave me a renewed appreciation of what a great camera the X-H1 still is in terms of ergonomics and build quality. All those who ...

My point was that $1000 is not small change and for that money I was disappointed with the ergonomics and finish. I am well aware the X-S10 is targeting a different group of customers than those ...

Dr J, I'm assuming from your comment that you have either never actually held the X-H1 or have exceptionally large hands. At least for my average sized hands it fits pretty nicely.

Visited Yodobashi Camera in Tokyo today to get a first hands-on look at the new X-S10. On paper the specs look compelling but I've got to admit to being very underwhelmed when I actually picked it ...

The base ISO on my GM5 is 200 but I can enable the extended ISO L.100 in the menu. I use this in bright light when I want to keep using the mechanical shutter which only goes to 1/500. I notice ...

Love my XH-1 : the best ergonomics in the Fuji line-up, the best build quality, that lovely shutter....all things that contribute to the pleasure of shooting with it. But one thing I have never ...

Thanks for the good explanation.

I wasn't aware that using the electronic shutter would reduce the DR of the sensor. Why does this happen as opposed to using the mechanical shutter?

a janice joplin reference...nice.

So if you put less pressure on the processor i.e shooting 4K at 100Mbps rather than 200Mbps, less heat will be generated. Is that correct? That's what I understood you to mean. I don't have the ...
