worldaccordingtojim: 2010 auto focus system, Panasonic is the least competitive manufacturer out there. DP Review is the only one keeping them alive, even YouTubers have moved on.

Huh?
Philip Bloom on You Tube has named
the Panasonic S5 as No.1 Hybrid camera
of the year under £2000,

karlbown: Good to see the L mount lens range expanding with a reasonably prized 85mm. Fairly light too

yes it is reasonably PRICED and I think it

will be PRIZED by its owners! :)

Camera Conspiracies: Lighter than Sony. Too bad nothing will be in focus.

Rubbish! Not the lens - the comment about focus.

All the images so far taken with the 20-60mm lens are awful-flat and
oof. The other images taken with different lenses are o.k. though, IMHO!

Anastast: Where is the AF on the eyes? Most portraits are out of focus...

And I thought more portraits were in focus especially on the eyes
than is usually seen on lens and camera tests!
Funny how we are seeing different results.
Could it be our monitors? Mine is 32 inch 4k monitor.

katy C.: will this also read SD11 cards or is there only one slot for CF?

Disappointed.

Mark Banas: My favorite video from you two, every year. Cheers!

I will never understand what is humorous about
people becoming drunk. It is pitiable to see!
And it is degrading and nothing to do with this
wonderful hobby of ours.

How so? To me it's degrading to watch two
adult males getting drunk!! It is a disgrace
and not funny even. How can one rely on the
judgement of these two as their speech was
becoming incoherent as it went on.
DPReview do not condone this kind of journalism.

keithinmelbourne: I have two EM12s and a G9. The G9 currently sits on the shelf. I have found that it’s focussing ability, even using Panasonic lenses, does not match my EM12s. This is disappointing as I would have liked to take advantage of the dual IS when using my 200mm f2.8. I will probably buy an EM1 X when the price settles down a bit. It’s ruggedness and focus is very attractive to me.

I found the opposite.
My G9 is lightning fast and is able to
lock on the subject (mostly birds) behind tree branches
whilst the EM1 mk2 was very hit and miss.
I also preferred sooc Jpegs of the G9.
Not to mention the infamous menu system.
I have sold my EM1-2 and bought the Fuji XT3 as my
2nd. camera a much better camera than the em1 MK2 imho.

DiffractionLtd. No one is denying Anyone the right to voice their opinions,

Why should they? But one can't help noticing you go out of your way to

be obnoxiously contrary!!

Photography derivative? We point our cameras and lenses at the same

scene over and over but what we show to the world is where derivation

stops and art takes over.

DiffractionLtd. your critical faculties seem to be sub-par.

I wonder what your taste is like in other areas?

I do hope that's your fault, I'd hate to think you have nasty

evil nature!

Jorginho: I have the Em1.2 and disagree with these conclusions. OSPDAF on the Oly Em1.2 is not reliable. autofocussing in fact is not reliable due to the fact (like many others have witnessed as well) that the Oly just focusses well outside the box you have told it to focus in. Also while after setting the cam up correctly the 100-400 PL works great, the 12-35 and 35-100 f2.8 lenses (markI) don't You can't do a thing with these lenses when it comes to action on the Oly. The Oly EVF is not great either. It is not refined enough for critical focus and its exactly where the cam goes wrong, for instance by focussing on the part in thepic that has the most cntrast. I completely fail to see how the Panasonic does not deserve gold when someone sumarsizes the cam is for "Just about any photographer craving a camera that can handle both high-speed still photography and 4K/HD-video duty. Anyone seeking complete control of their camera". How much better do you want it to get?

It's baffling isn't it.
My jaw dropped when I read the conclusion!
What is DPR trying to say to us?
I owned the olympus EM1.2 and the focussing was
way off numerous times- I returned it after a month of
grappling with it's many foibles!
Panasonic does NOT deserve this insult.

Esstee: Wonder how the AF compares to DSLR's?

Jorginho, Yes S-AF.
The GX8 nails focus say, on a small bird in a tree with lots of thin branches,
but have been unable to get sharp focus on a bird with the Em1.2 (tried many times) even with small af box, the branch will be in focus but not the bird!
I've sold my GH4, will stay with the Em1.2 until the GH5 comes out.

I have been shooting the EM1mk2 side by side with my GX8 and P/L 100-400mm and guess what ? I achieve focus faster with the GX8!!

I'ts not

If you can't immediately see the difference between 4k and Full HD

there's something wrong with either your eyesight or monitor OR

you're in denial,
