  • Sony Alpha rumours say the Sony A6700 is due in Q1 or Q2 2018.
    New Sensor
Coming on Feb / March 2018
High Resolution Mode, like A7R III
    Dual SD Card slot
In MFT I'll probably stick with Olympus...

Install this ROM, it runs absolutely perfectly on my LG V20 H910, especiaally after flashing the v5.5 update file.

    [US996][ROM + Kernel] NRD90M Modded NotSoStock ROM v5.5...

  • Well the colour and contrast definitely seems better. The finer grain noise perhaps, but not a huge difference.
I would suggest the differences is more likely due the G9 not having a anti aliasing...

I've seen a couple of videos on Youtube stating there is now an 'improved' method for rooting the 996, but I used the Dirty Santa method.

Unlocking the bootloader, gaining root access and installing a custom recovery -- TWRP -- is a little drawn out. I used the 'Dirty Santa' method. It's pretty safe though, so the risk of bricking...

  • Panasonic Lumix G 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH OIS II Superlight, supercompact with built OIS no less + not much $$ to boot! http://www.photozone.de/m43/844-panasonic1442f3556ii
  • Haha, if you were on my boat I probably would have thrown you overboard already my cheeky little internet shipmate. ⚓🛥😘

    According to Dpreview:

It's worth drawing a comparison to other sensor...

If your rooted and have twrp you can flash this zip,

  • Well basically the same 20MP MOS sensor as in the OM-D E-M1 MK.2, GH5, Gx8 etc...
I'm not sure what we are supposed to see differently, apart from different JPEG engines?
In other words it's an OK...

  • I think I can see a bit more detail than on the GX8, then again maybe not, I think that was just the JPEG engine.
More interesting is to add the Sigma DP1 Merrill and see the dramatic jump in pixel...

  • It's not 4K AND it's not 1080P, it's Quad HD -- 2560 x 1440.
    You Dingbats 🦇

I hope you don't have the Verizon version, as apparently the LG V20 Verizon (VS995) has its FM chip deactivated. Only the T-Mobile and AT&T V20's have it working.

  • Huh, I stand corrected, and it even should work on my OM-D E-M1 with firmware V4.0; and on my E-P5 at V1.7.
Perhaps I should get this lens -- the 12-100 f/4?

  • Olympus lenses don't have built in OS so I don't see how they could have dual IS.
Even with dual IS on the Panasonics you're still a stop behind the Olympus as I already explained above -- which...

  • @ DDWD10

'For stills shooting, we ran the Panasonic GX85 through our standard IS test at 50mm and found that when using Dual I.S. (sensor+lens IS) it gave us the equivalent of 3 stops...

  • @DDWD10

No, Panasonic IBIS is 2 to 3 stops behind Olympus's Five axis system.

What UV filter? Digital cameras use no such filters. You mean a anti-aliasing filter?
    My OM-D E-M1...

  • If you use Panasonic lenses on an Olympus you will benefit from Olympus's five axis stabilisation, but it does not work the other way round.

  • Of course square shots are what the iPhone X does natively, but can it do other ratios as well?

  • Waist-bag, otherwise known as 'fanny-packs' which brings laughs of derision if you say that in Australia!
Apart maintaining an advantage across the rest of its zoom range, in equivalent apertures,...

  • I think the idea is whether or not taking a compact camera is still worth the effort over just using your existing smart phone. Well even my G16 still does a better job (in RAW) than my LG V20 --...
