JJack's current gear

Canon PowerShot A700
Pentax K20D
Pentax K-5 IIs
Lovely sturdy little pocket cam. As the whole family uses it, it has suffered quite some abuse during the years. The housing is all beaten and dented, but still works perfectly. Able to focus closer than 10mm, and produces sharp-as-a-tack macros. Just too bad it has no shake reduction and just 6x zoom.
What can I say? I shot well over 70000 shots with it so far and never regretted owning one. It is rather dated now and the shutter shows some signs of wear and tear, so I recently upgraded it to K5 IIs. I'll keep the K20 as a backup body though.
My newest addi(c)tion :-)
Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL
Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC
Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro
Kit lens. Cheap, not very sharp. I only use it reverse-mounted for macro shots.
Bright/fast. Big. Heavy. Sharp. Excellent lens, but not to everyone's taste. Manual focus. Aperture either fully manual (using the aperture ring) or through the camera. (Only Pentax and Nikon variety allows camera-controlled aperture.)
Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM
Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro
When I bought it, it was the widest-angle rectilinear lens ever made. I love the exagerrated perspective at 8mm. OTOH it acts like a normal wide-angle at 16mm, so it can be used as all-purpose wide lens. Not too sharp though. And has problems auto-focusing behind infinity.
My most used lens. I shoot in cold and dusty environment quite a lot and don't like to change lenses too much. This all-purpose super-zoom - though a bit dated - is still perfect for that. Very sharp at wide end, not so much at tele end. No shake-reduction, but no problem, as the camera provides for this.
