I think gear doesn't really matter much with your project and I won't buy a new lens on purpose unless you know it would do for your style/project not to mention lenses like the 58G you mention ...

Is there any third party magnetic ring compatible with the Kase system? Got the 112mm magnetic round filters and the 77 -> 112 adapter but a pain to have to unscrew and screw back on another lens ...
