Reviews by Ch. Frost are in same format so very easy to compare: Sigma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qgOcFnAcVc Sony: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vs_5SjeT59g

It seems there are some serious issues with drivers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjYSeT-T5uk

I owned and used A7 IV together with R6 and I agree that A7 IV is generally better camera. But if you relay on AF and you not always can repeat your shot, you may find yourself in trouble much...
-
I think it depends on what you do and what you expect. I owned two and used third. In my experience these cameras are joy to use but AF, while often very good, is inconsistent. It can heavily front ...

When comparing to Godox Ad100 it's worthwhile to ask about color quality / stability. Some Godox strobes have pink or green casts which people try to fix with permanent application of filters. I...

Yes, I understand that, but I was genuinely curious. Thank you for the reply.

DPR, why there are no comments allowed under following articles? * Best video cameras for photographers in 2022 https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/buying-guide-best-video-cameras-for-photographers *...

And how about AF accuracy when tracking moving subject? Which camera gives more keepers?
-
The difference in DPR photos is negligible to me, but unfortunately this camera front focuses quite badly and visibly in certain situations. That is from my personal experience. And this is a...

I don't own this Tamron lens but from my experience with A7 IV and 35 1.4 GM and Sigma 85 1.4 DG DN I can tell you that this camera misses a lot when following approaching or backing up subjects. ...

I know this. Maybe A1 uses it's fast sensor to perform CDAF on eyes? Or some other trick? Or maybe A1 has exactly the same issue? With A7 IV lots of people claim that this problem doesn't exist...
-
No, it didn't fix that issue and I'm afraid it may not be possible to fix it with firmware. It seems A7 IV has not enough focus points and when there is no focus point on the eyeball it will focus ...
-
Unfortunately the focus sometimes is on the nose and that is harder to justify.
-
Well, I think I have an explanation. I overlaid focus points over these two images and in the misfocused image there is no AF point on the eyeball. It seems that A7 IV has not enough AF points and...

I went through my "real life" photos but I didn't find a single one framed similarly. If the face is smaller in the frame or smaller aperture is used it may be hard to notice such a missed...

I did similar test. Similar framing, f/1.4, ISO 100, 1/500s. Static subject. AF-C + single shot. Camera on a tripod. Remote control. Latest firmware. And the results are: Sony 35 f/1.4 GM: 4 out...

And one more question: how often does it happen? Every time? 50/50?
-
DPR, could you please compare this to other camera bodies? I'm wondering if this body just has worse eye AF than others (from Sony and competitors) or if it is typical in this class (and maybe...

Just to close this thread, another A7 IV doesn't get warm. This was probably some setting preventing body from entering lower power state. Not my camera, didn't want to mess with the settings.
