Are you sure? There'll be a queue waiting for that 58.

Posing pouches for the gearhead.

There really is no point in discussing this any further when virtually everything I and some other contributors post gets deleted by the Mods.

Heavy, Every one of my posts here has a link to my website with real name and contact details.

Really, Mr Giggles? Would you prefer that contributors with a lifetime of experience remain silent? Or perhaps you'd just prefer to listen to the many anonymous voices spouting popularist hyperbole?

Allium. Z7, 58mm f/1.4 G, FTZ, ISO 64, f/1.4, 1/2500s.

Sheesh, what does that have to do with anything. As much as I admire various lenses I'm under no illusion that they are going to transform my work or move it to a higher level .
-
Anyone expecting or hoping that a lens will transform their work or move it to a higher level is in for a very rude awakening.

I own and use the 50mm f/1.8 S, the 40mm f/2 and the F Mount 58mm f/1.4 G on my Z7 bodies. They're all very different. The 40 is bolted to one of my bodies when size, weight, stealth and character ...

A little more about the 40mm f/2 lens and in particular in comparison to the 35 and 50 S f/1.8 lenses which I also own and use extensively. The 50 S lens is optically superb, the 35 S doesn't quite ...

Despite having the option of optical perfection with a handful of my other Z lenses the little 40mm f/2 lens is very different and is exactly what I was hoping for. It's compact, lightweight and ...

^ This. Agreed, focus with the 58 on my Z7 is very reliable and I believe superior to the same lens used on F mount DSLRs. If sharpness is of optimum importance then I've no doubt the 50 f/1.2 ...
-
If Nikon introduced a lens with the qualities, size and weight of the 58 1.4 in Z mount I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
-
The 40mm is exactly the lens I was hoping it would be. I've got a plethora of Z lenses that deliver optical perfection in abundance, but this little gem is something quite different, a lens with ...
