Why would Leica put this up for auction?? It's not like they need the extra money...or do they?

They must be operating their cameras at a loss. I appreciate their commitment but Foveon is a loss product.

It would have been nice if one person shot both cameras and compared them instead of two people giving their views.

Robert Evagelista: I would have not thought that this is possible at bright daylight. Admirable.

I think a flame as bright as that one would be enough to equal out the exposure.

In reply to:

barb_s: What an interesting photo effect - I'm glad I took a look to vote here because this is a special lens and the results entered are unique.

These lenses are cheap, if you're thinking of the Helios 44-2 or 44M, all you need is an adapter and perfect timing as they are manual focus only.

JeanPierre Martel: Would it be possible to increase the maximum number of entries par user to _2_ (rather than one) and the maximum number of entries to 100 ?

The photos taken with these lenses are so special and unique that it's quite hard to select just one photo as the representative of what we can do with them.

There are only a few Helios lenses that have the swirly bokeh, namely the 44 series (specifically the 44-2). I agree with JeanPierre Martel, at least 2 photos per person would show more.

Photoman: What's the point of making a better quality format, when customers can't tell a good photo from a crap photo. "My iPhone can do the product shot!"...pffft

What has this got to do with the next "Jpeg standard'? My cat takes better shots with an Apple Quicktake.

Who would I want to shoot with film? I can have emulation at a fraction of the cost compared to going old man style ;)

There are people that would pay more for an old rebadged camera with a walnut grip and a H logo on it. I'm not one of them. "Luxury" comes at a premium suckers!

On article FroKnowsPhoto guide to DSLR video now available (150 comments in total)

A lot of people slag off the Fro, at first when I started watching him his Jewish obnoxiousness and ego was really overbearing. I watched one of his presentation to a school he was taught at and he gave a lot of useful information for the newcomer. He is very good at marketing himself I will give him that. If he stopped the sniff/wind tunnel test and actually took things a little bit seriously (ala not DigitalRev) then he might get more viewers. But everyone has there own quirks. I for one found the DSLR preview quite dumbed down to the point that I hated Fro acting dumb for the viewer.

And not to mention that you would look like a total tit with this camera, and become a major target for muggers and Nikon enthusiasts.

Yet another let down, kind of like Photokina. "See Impossible" should be viewed as "See Nothing"

General blanket statements from the CEO, he doesn't show any passion or drive. The 7D mark II would have been nice with WiFi, but oh no, we have this optional accessory for $800 dollars. And Canon, your sensors aren't the best, if they were then Sony wouldn't be stepping all over you.

Prairie Pal: There goes KR's last excuse for not shooting RAW.

Don't be silly, KR will and only ever will shoot JPEGs only! "I never shoot raw. Why would I? Raw is a waste of time and space, and doesn't look any better than JPG even when you can open the files."
