Or maybe a 16-45 or so that would be the ultimate landscape photography lens I guess.
-
The 16-35 is 2.8 (although there is an older f/4 version as well).

Wow, finally someone who breaks the mold. I know a bunch of landscape photographers who would get this immediately. Sadly they are all with Canon at the moment. Lucky Sony ppl. Way to go! But yeah...

Thanks for your comment guys! I guess I just hope that Nikon does make the right decisions, as more competition is always good for the market. Then again I am still waiting for that elusive Z8...

Hey Guys and Gals, thanks for all the input. What I gather is mainly that there is a market for end-consumers. Which does make a lot of sense (I mean I have a 14 1.8 for northern lights instead of...

Just a thought from a long time Nikon guy (pro landscape photographer). Is it a good business decision to release lenses like this at this day and age? I mean 1.2 over 1.4 which does not over that...
-
Well I did not know that, interesting to say the least. Then again, there are other expensive photographs way more expensive than this that do not compare one bit to the significance of the picture...
-
Just check who sold the most expensive photograph ever :-P

I guess when the Z8 drops a lot of my colleagues that Nikon lost to the R5 or Fuji GFX due to the lack of a D850 successor may come back. I love the fact that Nikon is bouncing back after the...

So funny that really important images like this one sell for ay less then whatever mediocre stuff a certain Australian Landscape Photographer puts out.
-
Maybe it's because you would be way to close to the lens for more than 24mm? I mean you'd be right in peoples face without having a neck if you had a 50mm cam on your laptop making the opposing...
-
True, even though I do use my D850 as a webcam for webinars and such I still invested in a darn good Webcam because it's easier to set up. And man, it makes a difference. ;-)

Wow, now that's what I call service - almost two decades after they discontinued, holy smokes!

Am I the only one who thinks that 16k is actually quite a good price for a lens like this? I mean compared to former releases. Not that I would buy, I don't need a lens like this, but still pretty...

Yeah, I will get that one for sure once I make the switch, but 60% of the time I am working in UWA territory so for me getting a decent sunstar in the shorter focal lengths is imperative. Still I...

@Jeff_0000 Now that is one awesome thread you gathered there. Also funny to see Kane Engelbert there, one of my favorite Colorado Guys. I only own my Nikon 20mm 1.8G for the sunstar and it seems...
-
@Urbex Mark Yeah, you might be right. Luckily I have a friend who just bought one for testing purposes so I will get to use it in a weeks time. @ Impulses Yeah, I am a bit picky I have to say....
-
I am using the 20 1.8 at the moment for that sole purpose actually. But on longer hikes it is annoying having to carry around the lens exclusively for that purpose. @Urbex Mark: Well, to be honest...

For a UWA guy like me, with very specific needs this is the third lens from Nikon that misses the mark for me. 14-24 F/2.8 - ugly sunstar, sadly no real solution for NDs and polarizer at the same...

725g? Damn, that's light. Pretty awesome lens.
