As it isn’t sharp wide open, this lens does not make sense!

I have this lens now for I week in testing and is even sharper than my XF 16/1.4 and 23/1.4 wide open.Quite an achievement I would say.

Orsonneke: I really wanted to like the GFX 100S as I love Fujifilm so much for their X system.
I rented the camera with several lenses and the ergonomics, ibis , quality of the files were fantastic. The real trade-off for me was the low performing AF compared to fullframe.Even for stills, the system remains slow and unreliable.I don’t deny that fuji did a great job improving MF, but for me , it can’t do the job , not even in a small part of my FF work.Further improvement on AF will be needed.

I tested 80/1.7, 110/2 and also 32-64.Especially the 80/1.7 was difficult to acquire critical focus.I am still astonished how much negative reactions you get if you just post your own experience.I emphasise: Fujifilm did a great job improving the system but , at least for me , the AF remains very critical and much more difficult than my Fuji X system.AF-C is unreliable to me.Others might do the job with all respect, no problem with that.

Orsonneke: Sorry to say, but after testing the system thoroughly during last 2 weeks , I couldn’t find an added value against eg. Sony A7R4.The system is almost unusable for slow moving subjects (not sport!).So many trade-offs still (bulky, heavy , bayer against x trans,..)

Thanks for all positive and sometimes cynical reactions.I do think Fuji made a great job improving MF for sure! The point is I couldn’t find an added value to justify adding a new system .That’s all.By the way , if there is one maker I love the most , then it is Fuji!!

I have my xt3 and xt4 in use and can assure that the AF is miles better than the GFX 100s and 80/1.7 which was not reliable at all!
This is just an honest experience!Nevertheless Fuji did a great job improving MF.

Where did I say that GFX is xtrans? Sorry the. My message was wrong.
I just mean that that the bayer sensor of GFS is less appealing to my like.
am I a troll saying this?

I am not a troll!Just an honest review!I meant that GFX uses bayer and apsc x trans!I just feel that x trans just gives something special to my taste.

nycgazelle: Looks terrible up close. Just mush when you zoom in. A lot of these shots aren't even properly focused!!

F4 gives plenty of DOF for this shot.I don't really see the point you make

For all those who have negative critics : just rent the camera and come back.Which I did this weekend; the files are just gorgeous and give a kind of film like look and very clean till 12800 iso.Definitive a nice camera!

Kiril Karaatanasov: I think it is the Sony A7C

That is the only product that really stands out and brings something new to the table

Canon 70-200/2.8 stands out to me as well though I am not sure it is a good decision - dust will enter the lens. That is the reason older Canons of the same spec remained same size......

R5 is great but it is essentially building a lot on to existing concept.

12-24/2.8 is awesome lens. May be it is a bit unprecedented but.... nothing amazing

20/1.8 is simply little brother to the 24/1.4. It is may be more practical and cheap but so are many of the new Samyang lenses like 75/1.8 or 35/1.8.

Nikon 50/1.2 is a huge disappointment. Sorry guys. This should not be here at all.

hi Kiril ,
What is wrong with Nikon 50/1.2?I just wanted to order one for my Z6?

Critics on this lens remind me of the old discussions on the nikkor 58/1.4 G.By so many criticised as being not sharp and so one,...In the end let us consider and look at this lens for what it is conceived: a portrait lens.
Critics as , sharpness is just so so , makes no sense!
We all need more lenses with character and less flat digital ultra sharp products.

Disappointed, mainly about the AF , also for stills
My XT3 performs much better on AF
High ISO , is very good due to full frame though

The 24-70/4 s and the Nikon 24-70 mark I
The F lens is more performing with my D 800!
The AF with the F lens on the Z6 was less snappy and hunted more
I tested mainly indoor at 2 location
When I took the Z6 back to the shop , the salesman , who wants to buy a new camera as well , agreed with me , and said he would not buy either
