Let's say the finding are correct, perhaps the reason for it is the person behind the viewfinder is not stepping forward and experiencing the moment. I know that was my problem with shooting video, and my reason for returning to still photography. So, am I continuing to lose out on building strong memories by shooting stills? I believe so, and therefore purposefully attempt to experience important moments by not seeing them through the camera only, and by using my other senses to build complete memories.
