turvyT: Ricoh should partner with a phone company with good computer imaging software. With their ideas and hardware know how, and that company's software, they would be unbeatable.

The Ricoh GR Phone

"Speaker optional"

I joke of course. Love ricoh. Hope to get the III since I'm enjoying the GRDIV so much!

Greg OH: No, the D5 isn't the logical choice here. Too heavy and low resolution. A D850, Z7, or A7RIV would make much more sense. But, the D5 is reliable, and proven in space conditions.

That additional 400g probably costs us $1 million.

in a space-walk they're not important haha.
Also, I call bs for 400g=$1m.

beautyintheeyes: Why would anyone desecrate their sony full frame camera with a sigma lens? It's like driving a ferrari with wooden wheels.

You've clearly never used a Sigma Art Lens...

Oh how the tables (of lens options) have turned !

TomCodyPleasedToMeetYa: I'm waiting for the firmware update that introduces a second card slot and mount that allows interchangeable lenses as at present this camera is just NOT perfect!

Seeky: It seems that there are two camps:

1. People who think it is obvious that these images are NOT take by a smartphone so outrage is not necessary
2. People who think it is not necessarily obvious and that it is bad practice to illustrate smartphone photography with dedicated large sensor cameras.

I think that both groups have a point. The controverse stems from a different point of view about "good practice" and "personal responsibility".
Hence, it makes no sense to oppose one another but to come to a consensus of how we want that companies can operate in the public domain, and enforce that policy.

@bardick, what other countries should we exclude? Are the Japanese OK? What about the Koreans? Does it HAVE to be American to be trustworthy? Maybe German (VW *cough* diesel engine scandal *cough*).

It's sad that a new era of racism arises based on the reactions on actions of X company of X country.

Get a grip people. Lets not go BACKWARDS ... AGAIN !

(unknown member): Guess Ricoh has to fix the manual for this camera:
http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/r_dc/support/manual/pdf/grd3/GR_DIGITAL_III_E.pdf

Page 2 shows the Pop Up Flash and Page 24 & 25 explain how to use it. Thank goodness for DPReview getting it right.

From my experience it helps when you include APS-C in your search words :)

You must be new here...

liin: Stop messing around and make a 21mm version, digital version of GR21. I don't care if it has to resort to 1" instead of APS-C.

But we do care @Liin :P

Zvonimir Tosic: Does it support charging via the USB directly? Then together with Solar-Paneled Jacket with a built-in charger, this may be a good thing for street photography, despite its tiny battery.

It does not matter where the power is coming from. As long as a battery/power source is 5V (Voltage) and the right Amps (amperage) and more mah (capacity) than the battery that it's charging.

The first has to do with compatibility (will it charge?)
The second has to do with charge speed (how long will it take to charge)
The third has to do with capacity (can it charge it all the way / how many times?)

In reply to:

rondure: I really want this camera but 200 battery capacity is a joke. I can barely get through the day with 300. This is a deal breaker for me.

Maybe you should be more selective and give more thought to your shots then...

mphillips12000: I have a 40+ year love-affair with instant photography – my first real fascination with photography was launched by a demonstration of the SX-70 back in 1972. Speaking personally, I find it more than a little sad that the current ZINK and Impossible/Polaroid media are so lo-fi compared with the instant films of the 1970's-80's. Instax films come close that experience with their color fidelity and tonal range, but the diminutive scale of Instax film, both mini and square, leave something to be desired. I'd love a larger version of my SQ10.

I understand and agree with you completely.
Instax Wide is what you need :)
