And if you use an IR cutoff filter....
Look out.
Are the markings radioactive?
Just kidding....
Well....
Sort of.....
:-)

@landscaper1 - might rather be Super-Luminova, the glowing material known from watch faces (hour markings and arms)? Needs to "loaded" by other light but then glows on its own for hours.

holgerlinke: This is one of those articles that got me thinking, especially topics 15 to 17... it's not sufficient to work on my photography skills, but I also need to have a good idea about how to present the results to others. That's something I haven't put too much effort into so far. Time to move presentation skills up on the priority list.
Alfie - thank you for sharing your thoughts here!
DPR - thanks for providing this article that goes beyond the gear-centric viewpoint

This echoes my thoughts. Life is too short to waste it with b/s activities. My self-promoting abilities are practically zero, and it doesn't come naturally to me. So I will have to work out something that matches and builds upon the way of how I do things. Not sure yet what it will be - but your shared experience shifted my focus a bit, thanks again for that! The good thing for me is that photography just has to feed my happiness, not my mouth... which allows me a little leeway to try out a few things.

jmellas: Can anyone tell me if the Nikon 1 V3 rear LCD screen will tilt up enough to do a selfie?
Thanks.

No, unfortunately it won't turn far enough. No screen-aided selfies with the V3.

Great picture, congratulations on the win!

And I like it even better after following some of the insane discussions in the Nikon gear forums: this wasn't taken with a D4 or D800 and a "holy trinity" lens... an "outdated" D100 and "one of the worst lenses ever" did the job. This really made my day!

All the best,
Holger.
