Up for sale is my Nikon 1 J4 with the 10-30 kit lens and the amazing Nikon 32mm f1.2 Everything you see is included. I am the original owner. Everything works perfectly. Included are three ...

No disrespect intended, but there lies the problem. Why would you even consider disputing the opinions of someone who has actually owned and directly compared the exact lenses in question when you ...

I meant similar in terms of image quality. After referring to the optical formula of the 80-200, I guess I should have made that more clear.
-
I've owned multiple copies of every Nikon 50mm auto focus lens ever produced and tested them all extensively. All vintages, all countries of manufacture, all of them. The G versions are slightly ...
-
The AF-S version of the 80-200 lenses is optically superior to the three previous 80-200 versions. It is a complete optical redesign and is very similar optically to the 70-200 vrii.

I'll need to double check but I'm pretty sure I have the latest firmware.

Are you being serious? It's seems like everyone here has a ton of cameras. I feel like I'm running lean with only three.

I would use a V1 with the FT1 adapter and a 50mm 1.4G to get an effective 135mm. Size and focal length was great to go stealth but the chromatic aberration was terrible with that much of a crop.

It's up to the individual. I used to carry a D3 and an 80-200 AFS almost every single day of the week, nearly all day. I didn't mind the weight or size at all. I loved the versatility so it was my ...

Then you definitely don't want the 80-200 AFS or any of the 70-200's. LOL!

It's a good camera, but you have to be aware of the quirks that some of them had. 1) On my D800, other than the center auto focus point, most of the others are unreliable, so yes, that's a real ...

If you tend to shoot at the wide end of your 18-55 and don't need more than 35mm, nothing will compare to the Sigma ART 18-35mm. Incredible image quality, even wide open at f1.8.

What do you mean by "N" version?

There are four auto focus (AF) versions of the Nikon 80-200mm 2.8. The first two are the "Push-Pull" versions. The first two are cosmetically different but optically identical. The first one lacks ...

Thanks for posting those shots. I love my D3s so much more than my D800. But anyone who doesn't own both just doesn't seem to understand that. It's not only from an ergonomics and speed ...

I've always carried two extra EN-EL4a batteries without caps, carelessly thrown in my camera backpack for almost a decade. Never an issue. And how could there be? It's extremely unlikely that ...

I'm wondering if my buddy got one of the early not so amazing copies. Do you still have your 80-200? Could you post a comparison shot? I forgot to mention that. Yes, the autofocus speed in actual ...
-
Obviously not a great comparison but they're the only comparison shots that managed to not get deleted. I opened them in Capture One and set both to 5500 Kelvin WB. No editing other than white ...

Agreed. The focus breathing of the VRII with no increase in image quality over the 80-200 AFS stopped me from buying one. My 80-200 AFS seemed optically identical (both very, very good lenses) ...

I have to agree. Do what pays the bills. We don't control the world. We try to be the best version of ourselves and navigate it the best we can. Regardless of who wants to criticize or imply bad ...
