First thing I would try would be turn the camera off, remove the lens, re-mount it, and turn the camera on again. The F- is an indication that communication between the camera and lens is disrupted.

They are doing it to use less power - it's a climate change response. They are not doing it to make life harder for photographers - they don't choose their lighting based on a small subset of the ...

Fair enough - guess you really don't like kids in elf costumes taking photos :-D

After processing, my images go to a NAS box filled with magnetic drives. I use a 4TB SSD for my working space, so I understand your setup. I tend to keep my PSD files, but my NAS is larger.

You know that full frame sensors are all the same size? (differences are < 1mm). No cramming required ;-) Processing as uncompressed TIFF would be an unusual choice, but yes, the processing files ...

I don’t understand the fuss - I don’t want the feature, and I don’t have the have it - that’s cool. I imagine it came out just in time for Santa photos (taken by kids in elf costumes in shopping ...

Maybe those particular models weren’t moving at the price they were released at? Sony Australia has dropped prices (sometimes before the product ships) a few times recently - maybe they managed to ...

This is an exaggeration. This is not a firmware update alone. The firmware update adds the ability to add custom sets of lines, but each owner could conceivably have different grid lines. That is ...

I don't know about the A7 series, but the A7R series, the A9 series, and the A1 all include the charger. It didn't bother me that the A6700 didn't - I already haa 2 chargers :-) I've seen the ...

The data is supposed to be identical. That’s different from the lossy compression, which is definitely different, but you’ll rarely see the differences. On the A6700 they have dropped the ...

The A7RIV normally comes with the standard charger for the FZ100 battery - if you didn’t get it, it wasn’t a full box. The Sony charger for the FZ100 battery works fine. I would not choose to risk ...

That is simply not the reason. Sony made that dial customisable, after complaints that people wanted to use it for other purposes, Some wanted to have a dial for ISO, for example. When it's a ...

Not "almost two stops". One stop from 100 to 200. Second stop is from 200 to 400 (not 300!), so 250 is much less that a full stop from 200.

Did you read the more detailed explanation of what the OP wants? The idea is to show what the camera is "seeing" - a web cam isn't the answer. Although I think the OP could have read the very first ...

Oh, but raw R3 has eye directed focus - that makes the difference, doesn't it?

I'd rather use the speed of this sensor to capture large brackets very quickly. Instead of whining about merging a handful of shots in-camera, capture a hundred shots in a second and merge them on...

@dka91 - there's also the photographers at concerts - increasingly lit with LED lighting, and rapidly changing lighting. The ability to shoot concert shots in complete silence and getting...

No, this is not limited to the situations you listed. This will be able to shoot almost everything you can shoot with a focal plane shutter, plus things that the focal plane shutter cannot. The...

That's why people have been talking about global shutter for many years. It was always "years in the future", until now!

It essentially gives you leaf-shutter advantages (or better - find a leaf shutter that can do 1/80000!) on every lens.
