thanks evancj and gdiver for your kind comments. It's a pretty cool shot of a bird you don't see normally. The winter here was more severe this year and these birds did not fare well. A local owl rehab had like 43 of them and most never survived! It's sad and makes you wonder how they survive at all being so sensitive.

Its a little cutie fer sure. I thought the lack of direct sun was going to hurt things but there were no blow outs to deal with and I was quite pleased on how it turned out. When I got to the local, everyone was standing around looking for it. Not much later he came from out of the blue and landed about 20' right in front of me. While hard to find he does seem to be somewhat camera friendly :)

Well .. i tested one in a store with some outside shots against some others. Wasn't impressed but then I am a pixel peeper. I thought the Sig 17-70 might work but ended up with a Tamron 17-50 VC
