  • Temptation is something I clearly don’t need!!! A fully functioning, but scruffy used 11-24 (therefore cheap) would be good.
  • Thanks for posting this tranquil English scene. Think I might head to WEX to try out a few options. They usually have a few used lenses so that would cut costs.
  • Is it complicated to do? I am pretty rubbish with software and never quite get around to doing much beyond simple tweaking. Are the results OK....be good to see some images if you know where I ...
  • Thanks....seems it is sold now. I am in UK but we have mpb too. I have used them in the past. They have 3 at a good price now....tempted!
  • I looked this up too. In fact I had this lens a few years ago but sold it to fund another lens. I remember why. It is a massive compromise as an ultra wide....nice effect if you like a circular ...
  • The Sigma 14mm looks very interesting. As does the Canon, but the Sigma seems to trump the Canon on cost and possibly sharpness. It is f1.8 so better for astro as well. off to read more reviews!

Thank you.....I have not heard of the Venus. I will look all these up, but sadly the Canon is out of my price range. Even if I traded my 16-35. I have a 24-70 so it would fit. It us a. Big beast ...
  • The Sigma might be an option. It is an ART lens, I think? How much difference in view is the 14 than 16mm? 2mm is obviously a much higher proportion than at the tele end.
  • Only for a crop camera and then it is 16mm at the wide end so no wider than I already have, but thanks.
  • Created discussion thread Ultra wide angle
I have a 16-35 f4, but occasionally would like a wider view. I can’t run to the ef11-24, but in the region of 10-12 Or maybe 14 if that gives a big enough difference. A prime would be good, but ...
  • that would have been so useful! Sadly the old mac died again. I don’t think I can be bothered to ‘fix’ it again just to deauthorize etc will see how itv goes first as TM is doing its magic.

I should have kept quiet! The old mac died again in exactly the same way. At least I now have no residual feelings about whether I should have bought a new one! I have followed instructions as ...
  • Thanks for the advice....I will follow the steps that have been advised. Bit of an update....I eventually managed to get the hardware checker to run. It took several attempts to open but found no ...

Trying again as I pressed post too soon. Briefly....my old 27” mac will not start and just gives a grey screen with vertical green stripes. It is over 8 years old and I was considering replacing ...

Yep! Tried to edit it as I pressed send by mistake, but now I can’t as it has been replied to!

  • I picked up a Jobu from ebay. The Lensmaster was definitely a contender.
  • Thanks for all the comments. The Gitzo is a lovely bit of kit. 3 tripods seems like overkill but they all have different uses.
  • I tried to smile back on ebay, but a Jobu grinned.
