This size difference is why the F4 version is my single lens travel solution. I'll sacrifice the one stop difference for ease of carry in on-the-go-situations. For events, there is no contest ...

Good points. And you have some outstanding shots to show for it!

Given your track record I am not the least bit surprised you have already begun delivering some amazing shots with this lens! Thanks for sharing; the lens is in good hands!

I admit that I was a 24-105 hater before the R-series system came along. But I received the RF24-105/4LIS on the first day the R shipped back in 2018 and fell in love right away with that combo ...

Thanks for sharing! I love the color version the most!

And just to be clear, my pronouncement of $13k was just a guess. I try to find a similar lens in the lineup and multiply the price by the ratio of their objective lenses to get a rough idea. If I ...

exactly! Agreed. We still need your equation given a sync speed of 1/1250s as a faster readout than the sync speed is needed in order to have *any* fully open exposure to hit with the flash. The ...

Agreed. Still now sure what the limits of synchronizing multiple off camera flash sources will be in terms of shutter speeds though. I have a feeling many pros will be exploring those limits ...
-
Except the example -- of course -- wouldn't work to deliver the full flash exposure of 2ms since 1/1250s is already only 0.8ms. No amount of readout speed would solve the limit on flash exposure ...

Yeah. Seems like the R3 would have to be selling for at least $2k less than this rumored R1 in order to be selling at the same time. Otherwise, it will be a one-off as you suggest. In my mind, I ...

Sounds like the 5D4 has a super capacitor as the power source for the date/time clock. And, no, it has never failed on me since I bought it 7.5 years ago. I'm glad this and other types of ...

Very cool shots! Thanks for sharing dmanthree

There are probably a hundred electronic and mechanical parts in the camera that are more likely to fail than a soldered down super capacitor. And a capacitor isn't going to corrode all over the ...

Overall I find the R7 to work reasonably well for birds. Sure, it's technically harder than an R5 given similar lenses because of significantly higher pixel density. The mechanical shutter frame ...

Could not agree more. I love the RF28-70/2L. And I agree it can focus fast enough for action. The larger aperture also helps with AF indoors where it is dark. Still, hard to imagine going that big ...

Why not go full frame? Can get an R8 for a lot less than any of the lenses you're considering. Your 70mm end will be much wider on FF (similar to 44mm on apsc). Subject tracking is great on the R8.
