BG454: Horrible UI, with two columns of tiny icons on each side of the screen.
You are constantly moving the cursor from one side of the screen to the other.
Why can't the icons all be grouped together like Photoshop?

disagree. keyboard shortcuts.

(unknown member): I installed their beta version, it couldn't start ( https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000963387-ON1-Photo-RAW-api-ms-win-crt-runtime-dll-is-missing-from-your-computer- ) and since then my USB 3 ports don't work correctly anymore.

Why did you install the beta? There's a trial available that's not in beta... ?

Orcs: I paid for On1 photo10, When they said they rebuilt the raw engine from ground up, I paid the upgrade for 2017. Now for 2018, I need to pay $100 for the upgrade. Your $100 will probably last for only a year. For the same money you can have Adobe CC suite, which are more powerful and comprehensive.

this is a standard practice in the software world...

Alright! Love ON1! Happy to see that Photo Raw has made it to prime time!

SDreamer: Willing to try this out. I hope they make it so you can use other cloud services, like Amazon. That would be amazing I think. I'd need iOS support though, which looks to be pretty lackluster from MacPhun.

pretty disappointed so far.

MarcusS25: Hey guys! If we keep giving Adobe more money... maybe they will eventually give us what we want! right?! That's how this works right?

not to pay for storage, not to use the cloud, and to get to use the new version with our subscription that we were told was not going to happen for Lightroom.

Verxion: I won’t be renting Lightroom. I don’t rent software.

I own the latest non CC version of Lightroom. When the time comes that it no longer meets my needs, I’ll simply find an alternative company to give my money to.

@ Tim - ON1 is pretty good about free updates with camera support. I agree with @Gabor too - the subscription model for software really is extortion. I ended my Adobe plan today.

Michael49: I'm confused. I've use LR for many years, now using it on the CC. Does this mean all of my photos (tens of thousands) will need to be uploaded to the cloud? Its unclear to me what this means.

Reader's digest version: You want to use new Lightroom? You use the cloud. You don't like the cloud? You use old Lightroom. (which is ridiculous).

Mark B.: Bye bye LR when I'm ready to upgrade. As an enthusiast but not a pro, for me I cannot justify paying a monthly fee. I'm trying to reduce my monthly bills, not increase them. I'm not the kind of user that has paid for each upgrade; often I'll skip one. So I've never paid $120/yr for LR and I see no reason to start. My folder structure is such that it's not difficult to find my images outside of LR.

check on1 raw 2018 beta. no sub required.

Tony Vinto: I answered every adobe survey with only one response... "don't make Lightroom subscription based" and would you believe they didn't listen to me!

Kidding aside, I will find a new ownable package when I no longer am able to open RAWs from my camera.

I dont own any subscription SW now and cant think of a compelling reason to ever.

Tony

I went with ON1 and never looked back.

El Chubasco: Ouch! 1TB would not cut it for me and paying double of what I pay now for 2TB is kind of too much. I do not need cloud storage to backup my images, I already have one and the smart previews do everything I need now. I don't see the incentive to switch from Classic to CC besides the new interface.

@james - agreed

Day Hiker: This is a mess. I want to think this over (sometimes called "counting to 10") before I declare what I'm thinking about Adobe as a company right now.

Maybe I'll just shoot jpeg and only look at my photos on my camera LCD. That way I don't have to bother with this kind of complexity and money-grabbing (oops, some of my thoughts about Adobe just slipped out).

LOL!

blurredvision: Came for the comments and was not disappointed. One of these days all you blowhards will actually leave Adobe products behind like you say you will, but I don't think that day will be today.

@bob - I've not experienced any issues since I bought the 17 version. I use Affinity too. different though than ON1. Excluding topaz, the others are really different apps IMO

@jake - end of the month I hear. They just posted an update to their beta version today too.

FWIW: cancelled my Lightroom subscription this morning and purchased the ON1 Photo RAW 2018 upgrade. Still in beta, but I'm done with Adobe. DONE! So, there's your proof.

Subscription model for the same thing over and over... Cloud storage... This is getting ridiculous. Doubled pricing basically for "cloud" storage...

Sal Baker: Very poor marketing. I was a vocal supporter of the software after buying it and waiting for it to work properly. I'm not paying $80 to get a more functional version. Any increase in new purchase sales will now be more than offset by people not upgrading, forgetting about On1, and spreading considerable bad word of mouth.

they clearly said there's an update coming for the 2017 version for performance and bugs
