Finally, a lens as sharp as my Tamron 17-50, but better at the edges. This stays on the camera 90% of the time. Focus is fast and silent.

The portrait lens

Optically excellent and about as big as I'm willing to hand hold. OS is ok but not on the same level as Nikon's VR lenses. Focus speed is average.

Other gear:
- Irix 150mm F2.8 DPR - add this to the list!

Great starter DSLR. Of course when I saw the D300 it was love at first sight, and I had to have it!
I learned a lot with this camera and it served me well for 5 years. However I preferred the form factor, features, and improved image sensor of the D7100.
I really loved my D7100, but it was time to move on. But what to get? Nearly got the D7500, but decided to wait.
Best image quality I've ever had and great ergonomics. What I expect from Nikon. There is a learning curve coming from the D7XXX series I was used to. Moving on to Z 6II for improved speed.
Good IQ, but needed something faster in both autofocus and aperture.
Good range and decent IQ, but unacceptable focus field curvature.
This was a really nice, compact, and sharp lens once stopped down to f/2.8. I miss these short primes.
Great all-around zoom with legendary sharpness. I only wish it had a bit more range.
