The previous Z6 update came out in October last year, Nikon has been really good with keeping their Z's up to date, long may it continue, its a small thing to Nikon that helps builds brand loyalty.

For my Software Engineering university degree in the 90s I studied under an AI prof at the time. I think the term AI is massively abused and overused and it confuses people. I agree todays AI is...

OK - so nothing explicitly stated - but reading around the edges - in particular on Thoms site: https://www.zsystemuser.com/nikon-z-system-news-and/sorry-we-have-no-sigma.html

Z mount lenses is looking more and more likely though, as Nikon has recently opened up the mount, no reason for Sigma not to get involved.
-
Its entirely possible this is a technology licensing thing, and so many shared parts - which then partially includes the design. If thats not the case, then you may also be correct, but too early...

I wonder if Apple are using a Samsung panel, as Samsung are one of the top panel manufacturers... Then its a case of exactly who is copying who? First to market does not always mean originator.
-
Before you do - checkout the fstoppers review - as IQ wise they state "one of the worst 50mm lenses we have ever tested"... this one is definitely a case of buyer beware... that said though I agree...

I suspect if you keep the catalogs small then you wont face the issues, I generally create a new catalog every 2 to 3 years. There can be a hell of a lot of images in them then, so I suppose its...

You definitely have a strong point. The number of times I have a catalog in LR that gets corrupted, or the disks gets renamed (thanks to USB disks seemingly getting randomly reassigned each boot)....

Yeah - always try to look at the pricing history.

and the laughs just keep on coming.

@stevo23 but the more elements you put on the lens those chances increase as do the artifacts, but to each their own. and I do like a bit of chess.
-
@photogopinion - yes I'm also in the same boat, I still use my D800 (10 yrs old) pretty regularly, all I can say is it takes great pictures and its AF is competitive to my Z6 for birds/wildlife...

@stevo23, a filter increase the chances of flaring.
-
I didn't say that, but the point of the filter is supposed to be "to protect the lens", and in my experience it really does not achieve this, and I agree with others that a lens hood is more...

Thom also argues that we should be patient and learn to use the gear that we have in place of keep looking for new gear, and stop switching brands (or at least that's how I read his posts).

If you ever drop a lens with a "protective uv filter" on it, you may also notice: 1) the filter doesn't offer much protection 2) the filter is jammed onto the end of the lens in a way that means...

yes and with IBIS and 30+MP, to be honest, I am more waiting for a Z6 / Z7 III.
