  • Well, when I started this thread, I had tried both G5X II and RX100 VII. I was in a bit of a dilemma as I liked both cameras and had trouble choosing. I let time provide some perspective, basically ...
  • Nice shot of the moon. I could be wrong, but didn't you buy a G5X II, or am I mixing you up with another member? If so, what made you choose the G3X over G5X II? I have to say that 600mm zoom, can ...
  • I've tried both  cameras, maybe not extensively but about a 100 shots each.  I loved the G5X Mark II in many ways, maybe it was GAS, or maybe I was just not content but I returned the G5 X II, and ...
  • I turn off the automatic preview, as it gets in my way more often then not. I'll want to keep shooting, and I don't want a preview popping up after every shot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  • I'm not trying to sound harsh, but don't just judge a camera based on its auto-mode only. There can be a place for that setting but if you want to produce some really stunning pictures, then take ...
  • I'd say the Ricoh GRIII is definitely comparing apples and oranges. I mean why not compare the G5X II against a sony Alpha at this point. I've played with the G5X and its a nice little camera...

  • Nice response and more or less echos my perspective. Though in trying out the G5X II, I was taking some test shots at the beach and in truthfullness, I had wished I had more reach. I envision ...
  • read the manual, use the camera now and see the settings.  Do you shoot in RAW, do you want to much post processing, or will JPG be sufficient?  I'd say the latter for quick usage
  • Replied in Disappointing
Well, not for nothing the G5X II comes with a battery charger, where as the RX100 VII only comes with a cable and no battery charger. If I had to choose, I'd opt for the battery charger.
  • I'd like to hear from the Canon folk who opted for the G5X II over the RX100 VII. Why did you choose the G5X Mark II? I've tried the G5X II and now I'm onto the RX100 VII. Both cameras have ...
  • Nice pictures, and its encouraging to see the low light performance. I actually tried the G5X II for a short period and there was a lot I liked about it. The biggest detractor of the G5X II was ...
  • I can't disagree with that, but while they have different strengths and weakness, they also share a lot of commonalty - that overlap means that either camera can be a good decision. You're right, ...
  • I agree, and he highlights the RX100's increased zoom and superior AF, but even he questions how useful the continuous Af/burst shooting will be (this will of course be a personal usage decision). ...
  • Created discussion thread RX100 VII vs. G5X mark II
Since both of these cameras came out at the same time, I'd like to know what you guys thought of the RX100 over the G5X, since they both came out nearly at the same time. I'm not all that ...
  • As I use it, there's still some things that are falling into the cons. RAW performance is highlighting some higher then normal noise, even at low ISOs.  Granted when I shot the images, the ...
  • Its not the cost of the add on grip, but rather its glued on. Maybe I'm being overly concerned but I'm not sure some self adhesive tape is better then having a camera body with the grip built in. ...

  • Make sure your shutter speed at a higher rate, and set the AF to continuous.  The VI's should still be fast enough to lock on to a subject.  To ensure camera shake isn't the cause, turn the burst ...
  • I'm curious to see what you use. I was trying out a the G5X II this weekend, and found the RAW image needed more post processing work - more so then my OMD EM5.  I'm curious if the RX100 requires ...
  • Its tough to pass up the VII, with the AF improvements.
  • I happened to shoot RAW+JPG, which is a happy accident since I have something to compare it too. Here's what I'm finding out, in LR, I'm finding images to be quite  a  bit noisier. I can't comment ...
