Pentax appear to be admitting their only hope is to stick with DSLR. I love the K1 but size makes it too big for some needs. Hope it works for them as a niche.

I hope Setsuya retires before selloff so his pension is still vested.

I have the TG5 and had the TG4; can't speak about the TG6 of course but find these cameras to be used almost exclusively for snorkelling and a little macro. Otherwise the limited IQ is not as appealing. They are built like a tank and quite useable. Find shooting JPG works fine.

Good to see Ricoh still releasing new products; albiet at a glacial pace. Likely they need to do rebadges with Tamron as it is unlikely many Pentax lens engineers are still employed during these slow times. Also looking forward to the DFA 85 1.4. Some activity is a good sign.

Good review; while I don't have the RX10iv the RX10iii is a gem. Did I interpret correctly that Sony pays for this press junket? Hard to provide critical reviews when company is sponsoring the event; yes I use Sony.

Cool idea Ricoh; I may just do this for my K1.

Whoa looks like a monster all round camera. I have the RX10iii and this appears to fix the slow AF.

I have enjoyed using the TG-4 for past 1.5 yrs for snorkelling and am sure the TG-5 will also be great. Not enough of an upgrade for me to abandon the TG-4; the RAW continuous shooting and better video specs are welcome.

On article Throwback Thursday: Minolta's prosumer DiMAGE 7 (216 comments in total)

I had the DiMage 7i and it was a great camera for the time. It was the first advanced digital camera that I had and handled well and IQ held up quite well at ISO <400.

On article Pentax K-1 Review (2663 comments in total)

Thanks for reviewing the K1 and the detail regarding the unique features that it has including Pixel Shift and Astrotracer. If one reads the whole review, you can get a balanced view of the camera including pros and cons. However, since most people skip to the Conclusions section, the wording of the Cons regarding AF and lack of lenses could have been worded better. In regards to AF, sure it is not as good at tracking as Canikon, but is it Poor? Also, there are lenses available to cover focal lengths from 15-560mm. What is missing for the basics; the average photographer only has a few lenses.

On article Ricoh expands Q series with Pentax Q-S1 (357 comments in total)

Why didn't Ricoh put in WiFi as that is a must for modern cameras. I would think the target market would also want this feature?

A fair review of an excellent camera. I agree that the weakness of the Pentax AF is now in the lenses. A well deserved Gold award.

On article Canon announces EOS M2 in Japan (609 comments in total)

The M2 is an example of how the camera market is facturing; mirrorless doing better in Asia and DSLR in the rest of the world. Otherwise, Canon would offer this camera everywhere.

On article Pentax Q7 Review (254 comments in total)

The Q's main market is Japan, where is seems to be quite popular. I have the original Q and find it fun to use. IQ is also quite good and I find DR better than other small compacts such as the LX7.

On article Pentax unveils blue and white K-01 in Japan (260 comments in total)

I am worried about the direction that Ricoh is taking Pentax. Adding more colours does not enhance a camera. While I have many Pentax products (K5IIs, K30, K01, Q), the recent decisions have left me scratching my head. K50 and K500 with no new features, Q10 with multiple colours and now the K01 new colour. While Canon, Sony and others are advancing their tech (i.e. 70D), Pentax is releasing more colours? I hope it works out for them as I have lots invested in this system.

On article Pentax announces Q7 with larger 12MP BSI CMOS sensor (229 comments in total)

Looks like a good upgrade. I have enjoyed the original Q and the IQ was great in spite of small sensor. If they have the same level of processing in Q7, IQ could be better than you would expect. I hope that the buffer is larger for continuous shooting and they find a way to deal with low battery life. If they made a Q to K adapter that allowed AF, this would be a great system for wildlife photography!
