On article How do you know you need a new camera? (191 comments in total)

Most cameras these days are so good that we do not need to upgrade all the time. I wander if that is the reason the camera companies push video in their latest and greatest..? I do not know how long my Canon 5D mk3 or my Sony A7 will last but I am sure I don´t need anything better. So *gasp* we are there where better photos means better compositions, better models, better sense of light etc All the stuff that makes art ART.

For me the Nikon D300 was the "game-changer" I sold my primes and used the Tamron 17-50 f 2,8 for everything. The high ISO on that camera was very good, and ever since I have been thinking when I used a new camera; if it is as good as the D300 it will just work!

Konica Auto S3, Yashica electro CC and and Yashica GSN are some of my favourites. They are fixed lens rangefinders and have a fast lens 35mm f1.8 for the CC. I have a Leica CL and a Minolta CLE but they do not have the charm of the others.

Hi, nice article! It makes me feel a little more positiv to my "outdated" cameras like Canon 5Dlll, Sony A7s etc. I am sure that the new Fuji GFX 50S will be a very good portrait and model-shoot camera but so are many of the "older" cameras out there. The "Latest & Greatest" hype are i little bit tiring so I think articles like this helps keeping it in perspective. Thanks!

LarsDaniel: It is the perfect camera for me. Full stop. X100T was great, but with the joystick and 24MP I had to have the F. Tell me: Where else should I go for a 24MP camera with LEAF SHUTTER? (Those who uses leaf shutters and flash know what I am talking about.)

I like the Sony RX1 very much for high speed sync. It has a full frame sensor and a nice 35 mm f2 lens. The autofocus is not the fastest (I use the original RX1) but the price for a used one is not to bad these days.

Jens Evensen: Sorry that Nikon missed the DL 18-50. Innovation could have been good PR.

No compact camera have a wide angle zoom starting at 18mm f1,8. It would have been a very good reportage camera that small. I have the Nikon 1 wide angle zoom and it is very good but starts at f3,5 - not so good for low light photography.

He-he.. come on yourself Barney. This might be the greatest feature; a really nice big screen

I do a lot of shooting with my Iphone and the Hipstamatic app. Is it possible to use DXO One camera with the Iphone and the Hipstamatic app instead of the camera in the Iphone? Would be great to get higher resolution and better IQ from the many great apps for Iphone.
