You can't assign all the available button functions to any button. Most functions can be assigned to the custom buttons C1, C2 or C3. Try to assign 'Focus Standard' to one of them.

With the additional use of BBF you won't need single AF and you can always switch to AF-C if you don't want to focus manually.
