Creating lenses for the standardfocallength (diagonal ob sensor) is the most simple calculation. So it's the smallest possible lens, mostly. Slower apertures help even more.

The 5D was the first digital fullframe cam. The 5D Mark II first brought FullHD videos to cams. No one cares if your interest was taken, but both were important milestones.

This sounds like a tragedy and it somehow is but I think they just fell from a fat cloud of the last years. In the past they could earn money with doing only some marginal things on their sensors...

Focus breathing has nothing to do with eighter manual focus nor fixel focal length. You should try a Canon 50mm f1.2L for example. Turn off the AF if you want...
