So is a homemade, crank by hand, barn door tracker....
-
Nobody has ever said the maximum focal length is 135mm. That's the "optimum focal length". The tracking errors will become more and more apparent beyond that, depending on exposure length. People ...

+1 An EQ6r is the minimum mount you'll need to shoot at 900mm+. That's $1,600 right there. The least expensive way to get to 900mm + would be a 6" RC, if you are up to the collimation challenge. ...
-
No, you're shooting at 420mm plain and simple ! Give up the notion of "equivalent" You shoot at a pixel scale of 2.01"/pixel. The most "Optimistic" measurement of the SA I've ever seen showed a PE ...
-
Let's see some photos of galaxies and nebula using that setup. Taking a photo of the moon is easy, you could probably do better just holding your cell phone up to the eyepiece, with it's smaller ...
-
If your mount can't track accurately for even a few seconds, at that small a pixel scale, photography will be impossible. At 800mm, using a 24Mp APS-c camera, you're shooting at 1" arc/pixel. 1" ...

The ZWO 6200 is the best full frame OSC astro-camera right now. BSI, no amp glow, It runs $4,000 USD. https://www.highpointscientific.com/telescope-accessories/astro-photography/ccd-cameras/zwo-cmo ...

Somebody call the Wambulance, that's some serious butthurt ! I wouldn't even bother using your "Full Frame" Sony. It has SERIOUS issues and is worthless junk for AP !!!!! Before you go any ...

+1 If setting up and trying to find objects is that terrible, return the mount and get out of it now, or buy a decent GOTO mount. Here's a "reasonable" rock bottom starter
-
Either that, or the OP is going to give up...hence his thread. Apparently he had no clue about GOTO., something you have taken advantage of with your EQ6 vs a "camera tracker" and old school target ...

How long have you been interested in Astronomy, not Astrophotography ? Can you identify all of the visible constellations without an "ap" purely by memory ? How many deep sky objects can you ...

I think SWT already posted something about an OOF Mars a few days ago https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64470983

There is no such thing as "Equivalent Focal Length" You are shooting at 300mm X1.4 = 420mm Out of 1,000's of reviews, here and at every major web forum devoted to AP, you are the only one that ...

Wow, I hadn't heard about the fires out west being that bad ! I was planning a trip to Colorado, starting Labor Day weekend and was planning on doing some nightscapes from Trail Ridge Road, but ...

You have yet to back up any of your assertions with a single "astro photo"....Your comments read like a ROBO salesman trying to pitch a failed product.... With your exhaustive professional ...
-
Somebody has some serious butt-hurt You asked a totally nonsensical question ....."AF Tracking" ???? You're not shooting a tennis game !!! There's not enough light for any camera to auto focus... M ...

You don't have a 600mm lens,it's still just a cheap 75-300 zoom. Forget the 20 year old myth of Crop factor" There's a life time worth of objects worth shooting using that 75-300 lens What tracking ...

If you contacted Orion, I'm sure they let you know that mount is only intended for visual use....or short exposure lunar photos as it's an alt/az mount. If you ever decide to venture into"Deep ...

Way, WAY over sharpened. The surface is nothing but "wormy" noise artifacts as well as in the "halo" around the moon. You also have a lot stuck pixels evident in the dark areas around the moon.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
