arhmatic: Smart move on Fujifilm to skip full frame and go directly to medium format.

@Zoron price of the GFX is similar, but the users of the 1D X and D5 shoot sports, news and wildlife. The GFX doesn't have the speed, the autofocus or the long lenses. It would be like going in to a gun fight armed with a pencil. I'd think something slower paced and more controlled environment is where the GFX will shine, like fashion shoots in studio, or macro shooting for printed catalogue work.

Maybe landscape too, but 30-40-50 megapixel landscape users with FF cameras are used to stitching several shots to get 100-200 megapixel images. Since the price difference is so big I wonder whether many landscape shooters are willing to trade their tilt-shift lenses and D810 or 5DS for the GFX and limited lens selection.

It's all about the system and the lenses. The GFX will be old news in 6-12 months and something newer will come out, from some other manufacturer. Camera bodies are short lived and the hype lasts only a couple of months.
