Well composed, loads of texture and tells a great story
  • Leave your driving for daylight, loads of Roos and Emu up there and dawn / dusk can be scary as heck. Ive only been as far as Kalbarri but Geraldton, cervantes and Jurien Bay/ Green head are all ...
  • Nice work Ben. That first one is most excellent. Sounds like an awesome season this year after all that rain.
  • I Loved my Lumia 1020 till it got stolen from my car.
I don't see a massive future for a brand focusing on cameras in their phone when Samsung, Apple and Co provide pretty darn near the optimal...

  • The birds are members of the Fairy Wren family which are very colourful here in Australia. This one is the Superb Fairy Wren. None moreso abundant than what ive seen lately in my mew region. Should ...
  • Thanks Paul. Was shot with an ND filter. But yes, a pretty place on a broody sky day.
  • Thanks Terry. They turned out ok after a Clean up. RAW just gives better quality and what im used to.  Seemed to be a lot of artifacting in the jpegs when i looked too close.
  • Thanks, I have adapted to it better now, avoiding around 1/100th sec unless in Live view mode due to shutter shock and keeping iso down where I can or making sure i adjust the colour noise more in PP.

... after a trip across Australia to start a new life. Sold a lot of gear but retained the k3 ( a bit second hand ) and a few cheaper lenses and purchased an 18-135 for walkabout duties. Got some ...
  • Plenty of detail with that combo. The Singing Honeyeater #4 is sharp as a tack. I've retained my K3 and 55-300 and it's a handy lightweight birding rig.
  • The more i use this lens and get to work around those soft images at 1/100th by using live view on the k3, the more i like it. I have reduced the sharpness setting that i use on the 12-24 because ...
  • Replied in Question
Sold the bulk of my Pentax gear and will look for a replacement brand in the near future. The sony face and eye detection atttacts me but seeing this makes me ask the question. Does Nikons AF ...
  • From what i read and made sense to me. K3 has 25% less noise per pixel but 50% more pixels. Downsampled the k3 wins, but Looking at the same image like for like on the same size screen my k5iis ...
  • No need to apologise .... its great. Who's not to say that in the right given night, that exact view is available to the eye anyway.  Loving this.
  • Not a lot in it ? For the interior shots, to my eye, the DA15 comes out very marginally better. The exterior shots surprised me. I would have thought the DA15 to have be a clear margin of IQ better ...
  • Whilst mine is now for sale, It has been and is still a very good little lens. For those looking at the new 11- 18 or whatever it is .... be prepared for the big $$$. The 12-24 will surprise you ...
  • I may be a little harsh about IQ but I have had some really top quality zooms of late, so this was "average" as a fair assessment. As a travel zoom for a Pentax body, it's in a fight with the 16-85 ...
  • Is there a dog underneath all that fur ................. ??!!
  • Created discussion thread Late to the Party: 18-135 review
Ok ok, I know .... how long has this lens been out I hear you say!!?? Whilst simplifying my pentax kit, i opted to finally get the 18 135 as a walkabout rig for my old battered k3. I obtained a ...
  • Huge effort Mike. Thus your telling the story like it is and pretty much what has pushed me over the edge. For most here, thats fine and works for them. Horses for courses.......
