I love the RF 50 1.2L - I credit it with rekindling my liking for this fl, which I used to consider "meh", mostly due to Canon's poor showing in the EF realm (I had the 50 1.8, 1.4 and 1.2L and ...

the etymology is indeed correct. But, there is a but :-) In Italy we do not use "camera", instead we say "macchina fotografica" (photographic machine)... just to confuse things :-D
-
OK :-) Ok, so if I change "something that takes photos" to "something meant to take photos"?
-
I don't want to highjack the thread :-) It's not like it really matters to me. I guess my simplistic definition of a camera would be "something that takes photos and that you attach a lens to ...

Understood and agreed to all of your points (small niggle though: is a digital back a "camera" in its own right? I've always considered the H5X my IQ1 80 is glued to the camera) - just felt this ...
-
I am not sure what's the point of this discussion? :-) Not specifically directed at you Erik... I have an IQ1 80 and I love it dearly. It's a quirky finnicky beast and I know it has a lot of ...

Thank you for all the help (and I envy you so much because you have it already :-) ) But all those (and other) shops are only taking pre-orders now :-|

Heard from Adorama, but the update was "don't have any, don't know when we'll have more" so not very enlightening
-
I've spoken with Adorama... they've promised me an update this morning but radio silence so far

I second the 2nd body suggestion. I went to SA years ago with 2 5D mkII bodies (yes years ago) and I kept a 400 2.8 (rented) on one (swapping a 2x on and off as needed) and a 70-200 2.8 or a 24-105 ...

I know the EF 35 L II is a great lens. I had the mk I and it was fine on the 1D X but I did not like it on the R5 so I sold it. Now I am waiting for the rumored RF 35 L and while I do not dispute ...

Most likely, yes. I expect the usual message from Canon soon, stating that "due to unexpectedly high demand yada yada yada it will take time" Yep I have seen the same message on multiple web sites ...

I tend to gravitate towards fast primes so my suggestion will be... the RF 50mm f/1.2L. I have it and it is an exceptional lens that delivers better than any of Canon's present and past 50mm ...
-
Well.... I have spoken with a different Adorama representative and this one told me that they did indeed receive a first small batch yesterday and that I did not make the "cut" Oh well - will be ...
-
I will be found wanting then :-D

Thanks! Many of the fashion images on my web site have been actually taken with my medium format rig (Hasselblad H5X with a PhaseOne IQ 180 back), but some of them were indeed taken with a R5 or ...

Update: spoken with Adorama, they told me that they haven't received any stock from Canon as of now...
-
Well, Adorama is still saying today but I haven't received any shipping alerts, so I assume the lens is either late or I did not make it into the first batch :-( Has anyone received theirs yet?
-
Which lens is the one you are referring to? I have the 24mm, 35mm, 50mm II, 80mm, 100mm, 120mm macro II, 210mm and 300mm. They make different noises but they are all audible. I'd say the 300mm is ...

I have a few HC lenses... they tend to be noisier than more modern lenses (to be fair, they were never meant for video) and AF hunting is a fact of life with this system, not so much because of ...
