I played with the fuji 80 at the show. While the weight changes the center of gravity,It felt good in my hands on the xt2. This is a specialized lens. After the hands on use, nothing has changed my mind about adding this to my want list. It is lower in priority than the 8-16mm though.
zw1975: As a Fuji APS-C system user, I'm concerned about the size/weight of some recent Fuji lenses (90, 100-400, and now 80). I switched from Canon FF to Fuji APS-C for a balance of IQ and size/weight, and not for extreme IQ.
I had the fujixt2 80 mm combo in my hands on Thursday. It didn't feel strange or front heavy. Obviously it isn't designed for Street photos or such. If you are into the macro thing and 1:1 scaling is needed, it appears to be a good choice. The autofocus worked real well in my short time with it. I spoke with one photo who had the lens walking about the show. He was going to just take it home and them bill his credit card because he didn't want to wait for it. You wonder if the pent up demand for fuji lenses is going o delay being able to pick one up.
(unknown member): @DPR; did you see the announced xf 8-16 ?
They only had a model with no guts behind glass.
I think you will get more use of this type of fixture for video. Unfortunately, its light output isn't that great for lighting a set. Wescott distributes a product they call Flex that is more expensive. It comes in various sizes from 12"x 6" to 2' x 1' with 32k-56k color temperature selection. If you wanted just 5600K you can get a 2X2. light output of the 2x2' is 139.4 fc / 1500 lux at 9.8' / 3 m. It uses 200 watts of power.
