blink667: So if you own the 55-200 would you buy this lens or just get a 300 instead?

You get also proxy photo capabilities... Compelling

About plastic .... the 100mm f2.8 Canon Macro was one of the very first lens enterely built in polycarbonate.
Provided the lens is well built this is not an issue. Moreover the "plastic" is less sensitive to temperature variation.
Apart from that the review gives a very good info about what you can like or dislike about the lens.
Given my experience with the 100-400mm not sure that the 2xTC is really usable with the lens if the IQ is too deteriorated (the only 600mm sample is not a traget including fine details such as feathers of birds..) It seems to work perfectly with the 1.4TC
I'm just waiting for mine ...

After many years of OVF then OVF/EVF (X100, XP1) I'm now really on the EVF side with XT1 and now XT2
There are some limitaytions with EVF for very fast action shoot but for me the balance of pros and cons typically is in favor of pros: view in low light, video, macro, MF, reviewing immediately with magnifier to check for sharpness, 100% VF in all ranges, WYSIWYG for most parameters, ............

Unfortunately, DPR continues to publish photos that do not check anything all, sorry !
To actually deliver useful info we expect some either action / sport/ wildlife shots in some extreme conditions since the challengte is to check the diff if it exists between version and and with competition
For the moment we just see nice puictures .....
So sad isn't it (Tex Avery :-) )

Excellent at a time where new technologies of imaging are emerging quickly with little valid info in standard media

On article Studio Test Scene (67 comments in total)

The new studio scene brings definite improvement. I guess it can be further improved. IMHO in it's present stage, it lacks elements that can check fo very fine details such as the banknote and the feathers in the previous model. OTOH it brings new elements that was lacking before
I hope after readers have expressed their opinions, the studio scene could be upgraded according to remarks and suggestions
Thx for this comments space
Robert

Obviously built for video and gimmick people

Exactly, FZ38 was probably the best quality the FZ series achieved...
I have an old FZ5 for "at risk" shooting and love it I was expecting a serious update, should have bought an FZ 38 at the time it was available...

Sad, isn't it that they are going the wrong way ?

:-(
