Preventive patent. Prevent everybody else from making something useful of Nikon film cameras, without any intention to materialize it. But.. who knows, if Nikon will really make it for real.

Shamael: If someone now can explain to me why a camera with a ton more features, with more comfort in use, with better sharpness, but with just a stop lower high ISO performance can get 3 points less then the Nikon D600. D600 AF is the worst Nikon ever made, the camera has quality issues, has not tilt and swivle screen, nor AF range setting for lenses to capture within a certain range, no focus peaking for MF, no composed image shooting for handheld in dark light and, and, and, and. DPR, you become more and more ridiculous.Compared to the A99, the D600 body is a cripple and here the fact the it has 39AF points opposed to 19 is not an excuse. The AF performs better than Nikon D600 AF, the major point where almost all Pro's who use it complain about. So, what on the end justifies this "bad" note compared to D600. Comparing both cameras is comparing a Ferrari to a Volkswagen, Nikon's D600 is primitive and Nikon has not make any effort to make this camera a modern tool, even D5200 offers more.

Sony has the most affordable FF camera ever made, the A850.

forzanopaolo: a very step forward! What is missing for my personal interest is either more "pocketable" or "an acceptable zoom".
Some comparison:
Leica III 135 x 70 x 30 (body alone) x 50/60 (with collapsed) mm; 640g;
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1: 113 x 65 x 70 mm; 482 g;
In 80 years .....the same "frame", much more tech, but the issue of portability is still present!
I believe that Canon S110 is a well tailored camera in terms of size/weigth/zoom/quality, a camera that you can always have with you, and this is a very important issue, a goal to reach.

That's what Sony RX-100 is for.

wansai: one thing i really truly want is ibis. i. can make other compromises but not on ibis. I shoot too many low light photos not to have it and carrying even a monopod around is not an option.

during the day, early evening, it's perfectly fine for a 35mm without stabilisation but after dark, it's damn difficult.

right now I'm shooting my nex 7 w zeiss 24 during day/evening but have to whipl out the omd em5 for anything below 1/60 shots. need to wait for them to stabilise the body.

we can handle a slightly bigger body Sony!!! really!

Most NEX lenses optically stabilized.. no?

In reply to:

FartIng: i bought and returned the G15 for a G1X - Why?
Articulated screen, larger sensor, but I found the G15 still has awful noise on photographs and HD video above 800 ISO (like the G12 I had before that).

The only awful thing now I find about the G1X - Macro close up photography is impossible which is heartbreaking.

Now I use my Nokia Lumia 920-which seems to take better photos than the G1X!

Maybe FarTing has a point. I also found that picture taken by Nokia phone is somehow better than some compacts(not from G15 league of course). The Nokia phone produces images with a lot of noise, but that's what NR software is for. Compact, on the other hand, overdo NR. Detail lost is worse than with no NR at all.

I not talking about G15, just compact in general.

Simon97: This Sony sensor continues to amaze. And in a capable camera it is a bigger plus. Canon has yet to answer the low shadow noise / recovery capability it possesses.

Canon should buy sensor from Sony for its DSLR, not just for P&S.

robbo d: Finally and a good review / conclusion.

So what we are saying here..... if you want to take photographs, this is a damn good camera, possibly one of the best in its class...........if you want to shoot video, its not the best video cam around. Sort of ironic way to view a DSLR, but getting with the times.........

Now Pentax just need to get their s*%t sorted in terms of product development, systems and marketing to be taken seriously. Shops here downunder getting less enthusiastic about the product and selling of their existing Pentax stuff. Good time to pounce for a bargain I guess.

Nikon, deep color? I don't think so.

Modular and programmable. You can call it personal camera or PCam or whatever. I want Sony sensor, Intel processor, Samsung display, Apple interface and Canon/Nikon glass.

Ok I know universal interface is impossible, just make it programmable. Sony Apps is actually a very good start by a company that is famous for its propriety formats.

Not really impressed with them.

Yes sharp, but kind of flat.

Need to see an artist use this camera.

Flatness means DR is great.

Ulfric M Douglas: Just wondering why the musician and girl on desk were taken at F4 (according to DPReview info) rather than F2 ... ?
Such photos call for wide-open.

F2 can be used in darker situation... with longer to subject distance. Just because you have an F2 lenses, you don't need to shoot F2 all the time. Hey, other F-numbers are also available.
