wkay: $3K for a single fl travel camera with no external flash capability (how hard is it to add PC sync)?
Lens hood full of holes for viewfinder renders it useless too.
Get Zeiss to make some additional lenses and I could be real interested.

Why is PC sync important to a P&S? A small cam attached to a big strobe just look strange to me.

Trollshavethebestcandy: I liked the size, weight, responsiveness, quality feel to it but it felt like a premium PS camera. What is the niche? This is not for soccer moms. This is not an ideal travel camera. This is not a "Pros" cam. This is not an enthusiast camera due to cost. This is a camera geek camera. It is a nice camera but I think double the price of the Fuji X-100S for probably a 10-15% performance of output advantage is not that much of a return. If you have to spend another $1,000 on a viewfinder and hood ect you might as well get the XPro1 and a handful of their best lenses for the same cost. Basically I am saying this camera should be about $2,000.

If an APS-C camera can satisfy your photographic needs, this cam is not for you. I have to admit, this cam is not for me either. But there's a group of FF-only photogs out there.

Same thing with DSLR, if 7D meets one's requirement, he doesn't need to buy 1Ds. There are plenty of EF-S lenses out there.

RedFox88: So a camera with a longer list of Cons than Pros gets a Gold Award? Really now. And they call an aspect of this camera a Pro and a Con: charging. Pro: USB charging is convenient, Con: no included charger makes it difficult to keep a spare battery charged. Did more than one person write this review without review at the end?

About the battery charging - in-camera charging is convenient, but would be better if charger(for extra battery) was included. Let's call it even. Pro - con = neutral.

Agree, F3 was ugly.

Mike99999: This is all I have to say about NEX: the size advantage is an illusion, you get big lenses with clumsy small bodies.
http://camerasize.com/compact/#325.90,393.321,ha,t

Actually, the big lens is the real illusion. If you look at NEX-5 + 16-50mm, the lens look big. But with NEX-6, the lens look just okay. So big body makes the lens look smaller vice versa.

photo nuts: I'll rather pay less for D600/6D + 28/50 f/1.8 lens and live with a little more bulk, but better AF sensitivity in low light. But that's just me. :)

Half price? Hmm... that's Fuji x100's MSRP($1200). FF + lens won't go below 2k mark.

CameraLabTester: What is Sony putting in their diet?

Oblivionic Poison?

This is the second such rubbish (after the RX100) that you have to charge the battery while INSIDE the bloody camera!

What is this? An iPhone?

This is a great indicator of how this is NOT a serious camera...

Really nice gear, terrible user interface... trademark Sony,

.

Actually I like the "in-camera" charging style. Save my desk some space, also minimize the possibility I left my charger during vacation(not entirely true because I still have to bring the wire though).

SDPharm: I have no doubt that it's very well made and produces very nice images. But no viewfinder? If Sony can fit a viewfinder in NEX-6, surely they can squeeze a viewfinder in this baby.

Well, they want to make look like a compact. There's a good chance that the FF NEX will have built in VF.

Scott Birch: Impressive, but pointless. I wonder what kind of pictures will be taken with it. Do you think they'll justify the leap from APS-C to FF in a compact?

Good one Barney!

@marty - it's the feel.. hehehe. That's what today's kid do, share everything they do all day online.

I saw this thing last week. This camera is BIG, a lot bigger than a compact. I rather bring my DSLR over this. The good things about Samsung Galaxy Camera are connectivity, Android OS and gigantic screen.

Agree with Plastek. Fuji X is kinda niche segment.

rishi o': where is the manual focus ring on the emount/micro-four third lenses?

Those lenses come with full time AF, no manual focus.

Kidding. I think they will have smooth rubber focus ring, just like my (ancient) A-mount 50mm.

pureaxis: Sony E-mount is maturing rapidly, can't wait for the premium zoom coming later this year. Although Sony really need a fast telezoom like a 50-150mm f/2.8, instead of slow travel zooms.

Fast means large, defeating the purpose of a small and compact mirrorless.

In reply to:

ianimal: Yes a nice lens if you want to keep the system small.
Rumors says some Zeiss primes for NEX comes later this year, for
them who want something fast and expensive.

Generally, faster lens cost more. Maybe Samsung sold their lenses below cost, or with very little profit to gain market share.

Do compare price of f1.8 and f1.4 lens. There's a significant difference. So generally, faster means pricier. Especially because it's Sony. Heh.

zinedi: Why this slooow expensive dummy again? Wouldn't it be better to make a true piece of glass for fair price? But Sony is obviously not capable - good optics is out of reach of their apprehension.

I think 2.8 is quite fast for a pancake. It's a compromise of size, quality and price.

For a faster lens, the size has to be bigger. Want quality and don't mind spending big money, wait for the Zeiss. They are coming.

For those who claim this thing does not increase resolution, check this out.. Imatest test by Roger Cicala from lensrentals.com. -> http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/01/metabones-magic

"As advertised, the MTF 50 increased compared to the same lens on no adapter."

Actually Speed Booster is an intuitive name. It boost up lens speed. But still it's a funny name nonetheless.
