All look good and clean to me also ISO 5000. JPEG out of cam? Or postprocessed RAW?

Hardware already is on a high level. Some evolutionary (but minor) improvements regarding Auto Focus speed, AF Snapiness, reduction of power consumption, dynamic range, ISO noise have to be there ...

A nice article about that: https://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/why-40mm.html (got that here in the forum from someone open minded :-))

YES, at least you, sportyaccordy, got me. I am feeling exactly that way. Never liked all the more normal foca lengths like 35, 50, 55, 58 and tried and tried, until I checked out Batis 40 and ...

Similar size and weight to the new 35mm GM but nicer ;-) focal length would be great.

Yes, i am one of these guys. 40mm to 45mm is the sweet spot. Try it, you will see :-)

Tokina Firin 20mm/f2 + Samyang 45mm f1.8 could be a good alternative combo for the smaller wallett (approx. it is a factor of 2x, 900 vs 1800 EUR for both). We had a long discussion about Batis 40 ...

Another option: Sony 20mm f1.8 + Zeiss Batis 40mm Both are from lens quality perspective and price more on the upper (but not top) end. you will never regret. In general I would recommend to have ...

Maybe fine tuning the AWB helps. Look here: https://enthusiastphotoblog.com/sony-a7riii-priority-auto-white-balance/ But I don‘t know if the option is also there on A7C and/or A7m3

Second vote for Batis 40mm f2 CF. A great lens. Produces very pleasing pictures. Also looks awesome on the A7 bodies and is a lightweight with (despite looking big) just somewhere a bit over ...

The Sigma 24-70 is significantly more heavy.

I also sometimes have the impression that 35mm is much more popular than 50mm. For me also. 50mm is to tight or not tight enough for me in nearly every situation. As a long time standard zoom ...

Take a 85mm or 135mm for mixed use (portraits but also documentary, street)? Especially in the Sony universe with the available options. 85 and 135 seems not to be such a big difference: https://va ...

Does 24mm and a 135mm together make sense as a two lense prime travel kit? Or is that a stupid idea and taking maybe a 70-180 Tamron zoom is a wiser decision? The 135GM is a bit heavy.

Take the 12-24F4 G lens (not the super expensive 2.8 GM), it is a sharp, relatively light and well to handle lens. Its a great lens and offers you the full range. Shake is usually not a big issue ...

Yes it is customizable. At least you can change between aperture and speed. I don‘t think this is configurable.

BTW: In Europae there are some Black Friday discounts for the Sony FE 35 f1.8 for much less than 600 euros incl VAT. e.g. in Spain for 469 EUR https://www.amazon.es/Sony-SEL35F18F-Seguimiento-Silen ...

Same here, for rendering/colors/contrast/„3D dimensionalism“ (pics not looking flat“)/...: I own, used or tried: Sony 10-18 APS-C -> ok Sony 12-24 FE -> ok Sony 24f1.4 GM -> great Sony 24f1.8 Zeiss ...

Me too. Interested in the differnces.

“Boring“ or „unspectacular“ would also have been what I would have chosen If I only have one word. Mine was sharp but images felt a bit sterile, not to say boring, to me. Size and weight are fine, ...
