On article Nikon launches AF-S Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 G (135 comments in total)
In reply to:

acrockett149: I bought the Nikon V1 last week because the salesman said that there was an 85mm at 1.8 that had full autofocus and would turn into 220mm. I was going to use it for kids performances in low light. I promptly returned the V1 because I found out there was no 85mm 1.8 with the AF-S required for the V1 to autofocus. A day later this is announced.

this lens still will not work with a v1. the 1 series uses 1 lenses currently the 10, 10-30, 30-110, and 10-100. this is a traditional slr lens

On photo Night train to Haywards Heath in the Your Best Photo Ever.... challenge (4 comments in total)

I have judged and been in a number of photo contests, and would do much better in a print contest. brightness and imediate resposnse goes together. in this type of contest, people look at a image for a couple seconds at most and make a judgment, and a picture like yours is dark and grows on you the longer you look at it. Summit this image in a print contest (because a judge will look at it longer) on the glossiest crispest paper you can and it will score very well.
