Light Pilgrim: I have deleted my Facebook account, Instagram page, Facebook fan page with 14.000 followers and removed myself from social media entirely. Have never been happier:-) I am more creative, more free, have a lot more time back to focus on important things. Social media is addictive for people and adds nothing positive

I use Facebook exclusively for communication and making plans in groups

Ebrahim Saadawi: My usage of Instagram nearly ceased to exist once I couldn't understand why it was "intelligently'' showing me random posts. I understood things when it was chronological. Just killed the entire soul of the platform.

@cosinaphile
Agreed, Facebook blocked me for three days because I dared to state that Bosnians and Iraqi are not the same people (I'm not even joking).

How does timelapse photography affect shutter life? I know that some people smash out thousands of photos for one timelapse video. Do timelapse photographers replace their shutters often?

Great video, as always, Guys! You should do more, Chris & Jordan.

It's only funny, to see that you Guys find 20 MP of the D500 "too little" Resolution for Landscape Photography into 2018. Well, i love to take Landscape Pictures with "just" 12 MP - and it's way enough. ;-)

Good Light!

TMHKR: If you really need more than 1000 photos as a FREE (as in non-paying) user, which I highly doubt, then simply open several accounts. Stop thinking of Flickr as your mass storage site and realize it's a site to show off your best work.

Still better than 500px's idiotic "seven photos per week" limit.

Link | Posted on Nov 2, 2018 at 22:52 UTC

Isn't 1.000.000 photos a bit exaggerated?

Hautedawg: Canikon users are running out of excuses and trump cards against Sony

YouTube """photographers""" (I hope there's enough quotes) are part of the problem as well. Only a handful of them actually give advice based on photography technique, and not gear.

whakapu: Another one bites the dust. 500px, youpic, now dear old Flickr. I guess there's escaping the reality that there's no way to monetise a good free photo sharing platform.

Storage, equipment and maintenance cost, there's no other way. But at least they offer SOME sort of free service. I currently use YouPic, but will try Flickr once they leave Yahoo.

LightPriority: The 1000 image limit on free accounts is going to devastate Flickr. I wonder how many millions of great images will simply vanish from the site as a result? Such a waste and all it does is lower the value for all users. I already cancelled my pro membership when they hiked the cost of the plan I was on, effectively tripling the cost. After years of no new features, a buggy app and now all this crap, I really don't see how they expect this service to survive.

I believe no images will "vanish". The users simply won't be able to add more.

At last, Flickr abandons the "purple shipwreck".

Azathothh: So someone who already has more than 1000 photos won't be able to upload new photos without paying? That will annoy lots of people, including me. Why don't they put a limit of many photos you upload each day/week or just put a Gb limit...

1000 photos is way better than a weekly limit, this is the only thing that turns me away from 500px!

EXkurogane: [Triggered Sony fanboi army invasion on the way]

I have nothing against Sony, but GOD they should finally smooth out rough edges on their cameras. The hard "transitions" in the body design turn me off.

Dominik84: As a Canon user the Z-System looks like the most promising mirrorless system - regarding my needs. I'll try it first for leisure photography but surely won't throw my DSLRs and EF lenses away because it still works great.

I like it as well, glad that Nikon finally moved from mechanical levers and screwdrives on the mount and went fully electronic.

Get Rekt: Built well or not, it doesn't change the fact that the Z7 serves up a prosumer-level feature-set at a pro-level price.

There's no such thing as "prosumer-level feature set" when you place the camera in the right hands.

Canon fanboy here. Although I exclusively use my preferred brand, I like reading about every camera that comes out, regardless of the brand. Yes, even Sony which, objectively, has the worst of the worst fanboys (and we all know who's their "leader" on this website).

Astro Landscapes: CORRECTION: "How Adobe screws up Canon and Sony (and Nikon, and everyone else's) skin tones with its sub-par third party raw conversion, ...and how to avoid it entirely by switching to Capture One for the raw conversion itself."

There, that's the correct title. ;-) :-P

Funny, I saw two threads with similar statement on 4chan's photography board. Did you just out yourself?

wats0n: People with small sensors are always making excuses for why their tool is perfectly adequate. I have a big sensor and my wife is quite happy with it. DOF can be a bit tight with a big sensor, but the subject matter really sticks out.

"I have a big sensor and my wife is quite happy with it" - imagine being this insecure...
