stjarvis: Bokeh looks a little rough, definitely not on par with the 24-70 GM.
Hand wringing over bokeh in an $800 lens vs the $2100 counterpart likely means Tamron hit a home run.
The continual assumption that the only driver for switching to mirrorless is size baffles me. Smaller size is important for many, but that's not why Sony is now pressuring Canon/Nikon like never before. The rapid pace of improvements/capabilities and actually giving customers what they ask for at a reasonable price are far more important. Indeed for many, the smaller form factor is something we merely tolerate as it ruins ergonomics. This is especially true in the FF mirrorless segment, where this camera will be aimed at professionals and prosumers more than the average street shooter.
Can't wait for all the guys who haven't touched a mirrorless since the original A7 to come and offer their opinions on the A7iii as if none of their original experiences have been improved upon.
M43ForMe: Yeah but it doesn't even have a pop up flash... Garbage camera
I thought the sarcasm was obvious...
Yeah but it doesn't even have a pop up flash... Garbage camera
That's a bold move Cotton, let's see how it plays out.
havanna60: "With 5.9K resolution, the camera is able to record oversampled 4K video internally, which should provide superior results to a native 4K sensor" Excellent! The first oversampling Canon 4K camera. Sony A6500 was the first that oversampled its 6000x4000 APS-C to 4K, then came Sony A9 with its FF sensor, and later Panasonic GH5 with its m43 sensor. Hopefully, we can see this new Canon oversampling technology in consumer 4K products, too.
Yeah the Samsung NX1 in 2014 did 6k->4k over sample. It only cost $1500...(I know, I know, apples to oranges, but still)
ozturert: Now is the time Sony should be scared. Not that first Canon FF cameras will be perfect but they will be easy to use, will have great color, great ergonomy, DualPixel AF, 4K video (probably inferior to what Sony offers) etc...
Sony has made a huge mistake: Released as many cameras as they could but haven't offered decent zoom lenses at 1000USD and at around 500USD. Switching to Sony is very costly if you want half-decent zoom lenses.
Canon and Nikon has good (not the best but much better than 28-70mm OSS) zoom lenses around 500USD and these guys have had decent 24-105/120mm f4 lenses for about 1000USD for ages. Sony has only come up with a good 24-105mm f4 (actually better than both Canikon's 24-105/120) after 8-9 FF bodies. Nikon and Canon has very good 24-85mm VR and 24-105mm STM offerings around 500USD, and Nikon has 18-35mm for a good price. Where is Sony's offer against those? Now Sony will suffer for that.
This ignores the fact that Sony has already obliterated Canon's business model. I guarantee you their first FF mirrorless would have been over $3000. The A7III will force them to completely re-think their pricing approach.
Also Tamron and Sigma are both doing native e-mount now, so the native zoom thing is about to change. BTW, how much does a Canon 24-70mm 2.8L cost?
M43ForMe: Honest question - why do women need help getting into photography? What barriers exist? In my experience, women dominate wedding and portrait photography. Most photographers I know own their own business. Nothing stopping them.
I learned photography out of a genuine personal interest. Spent hours and hours on this site, reading books, watching tutorials, trial and error. None of that seemed like it was easier for me to do because I'm a man...
Real feminism to me is realizing women are entirely capable and don't need special treatment because of their gender (which is actually a sexist notion - "let me help you, you can't do it yourself"). Also, just because something is 'male dominated' doesn't mean the root is sexism.
Yeah someone making a rude comment doesn't a barrier make. Unless you're about to catalog every rude comment made to men as well. Women aren't weaklings. A few rude comments aren't going to keep them down. Thinking they need our help to overcome stuff like this is patronizing to women.

CaptainCrunchy: It is always so sad to see how sexist and misogynistic male photographers are. Maybe because most are older or maybe because they feel threatened by women. The industry ranks right up there with Hollywood and video gaming.
Reading through these comments is just sickening, seeing all the hatred and talk about how women are so inferior. Substitute the word "jew" and you get Nazi propaganda. Substitute the word "black" and you get white supremacists. Those people are all the same (and many are proud of it). Just sick.
So, people object to obvious pandering to a demographic and you relate it to Nazi rhetoric - and you think THEY are the ones being dramatic?
Millions of people were murdered in gas chambers and you think that's a suitable analogy. Sure, they're the ones with the problem...
Nice Daytona...
TMHKR: $2000 =/= "basic"
Interesting. Canon's "basic" full frame camera that's far inferior launched only $100 cheaper.
Max Iso: This is the first E mount body i would genuinely be interested in, but there's still the lack of decent lenses that aren't a fortune. Maybe a used A7III a few years down the road, and maybe by then the lenses will sort themselves out.
Then again, by then Canon and Nikon are likely to have FF ML out, with all the lenses i would ever need.
The newer Sony bodies accept adapted Canon mount glass like a champion. AF is nice and snappy.
tangbunna: wait for MC11½ available for X-mount first before consider this one.
Why? Fuji has some pretty awesome native glass...
safford1977: How much is apple going to charge for the "pro" computer that will process multiple angels with these files? LOL
This has nothing to do with Samsung, and the question has merit. With every iteration of the iPhone (and Mac for that matter), Apple has gouged the consumer for incremental memory and storage increases.
ZoranHR: Adorable when wedding photographers talk about continous shooting. Credibility is spraying all over the place.
Nobody said you don't have a right to a personal opinion. We just said your opinion was wrong :)

Dan Watson is a very skilled photographer and videographer. You should research more before criticizing. His reviews on his channel have all been very good and very comprehensive.
seloo: If people opposed the status quo as much as they do to certain brands, products etc. the world wouldn't be run by idiots and warmongers.
Wait...what?
paulfulper: Wow , if this lens is sharp it will be a game changer.
Unfortunately most Samyang are not sharp
The Sammy/Rokinion 12mm was sharp, especially for the money.
