About me:

Having passed the half-century mark awhile back, I'm not exactly as old as I am no longer new. I got my first Instamatic about 48 years ago, my first SLR about 37 years ago and the first DSLR that actually belonged to me alone about 2005. I've been shooting longer than some people have been alive. I came to digital photography from the Black and White wet darkroom and I probably carry a small version of that around with me inside my head. I get paid to compose/write catalog descriptions at an auction house and to try explain to people the difference between "The Antiques Roadshow" and the real world. This allows me the opportunity to make some photographs, and occasionally encounter vintage glass, old bodies and lighting rigs that many people don't know about. It may all be irrelevant; I don't know - I just like tonalities. I'm not done yet, and I might never be.

  • White is more difficult to read - I know, that puts me in the minority but, it is my preference. I read at 100% and my mind processes the information better on a black background. It is fine to...
