On article Pentax K-1 Review (2663 comments in total)

Looks like a very interesting FF offering, I'm happy for all the Pentax users who have been waiting this for a very long time!
Images look pretty good, but the bokeh of the 24-70 in the flower shot is really ugly >_>

thx1138: What, no wow and awesome in the headline. Has Sony finally made a dud!

Looks a nice camera, but paying that much money for a one trick pony with fixed lens is ridiculous. Give me the A7RII any day.

Thank god for that.

It may due to the fact that almost every product that is not an entry level p&s camera gets at least the silver award.

I guess that's why it's taking forever to make them.

Hinder: Why is it that whenever I'm interested in a new product it's not really even made yet? So many things are crowd funded and never even materialize. I've been through it a couple of times, no thank you.

It's even worse when they do eventually materialize and suck donkey balls.

"Without a color filter array, the 24MP CMOS sensor doesn't lose sharpness through interpolation", so how come that the studio sample from a simple Canon Sl1 looks much better? o.O
The real world samples are ok, but to me they look like images that any camera could take. The 2 portraits (girl and doggie) look nice but I don't like the bokeh, especially the grass in the doggie pic is a mess.

close enough! (almost)

I don't know, there's some distortion and dynamic range could be better. Also, the framing is a bit weak. 6.5/10 for the effort.

Zvonimir Tosic: For those who compare Ricoh GR with this Leica X.

Lenses: . GR has 28mm equivalent lens, Leica X has 35mm equivalent. One is f/1.7, one is f/2.8. So they are not comparable. It is questionable how would Ricoh's 35mm lens compare to Leica's 35mm lens. Ricoh never made a 35mm GR, not the same lens in digital age

Marketing: despite being about 100 times smaller a company, Leica shows 100 times better marketing efforts. You can easier find Leica X in shops than the GR. Leica's service is better experience too. How they do that, I don't know, but it shows strategy, thinking, commitment despite minute size of the company. Perhaps is better ask: why Ricoh fails to do that?

Price: Leica's price is higher than Ricoh's. But you need to put all arguments on the desk: if a small company works harder and must charge more because the cost of their operation is high, why would you endorse a big player then, who can lower the price, but still does not care. For its main business are copiers anyway.

It's not a matter of "Ricoh GR vs Leica X", it's a matter of "Any Point and Shoot vs Leica X". The Canon Powershot S120 gives the Leica X a run for it's money, and it costs a fraction. But yeah, Canon is a big company, they're evil, better drop over 2 grands on the Leica. Illuminati confirmed.

JEROME NOLAS: Yes, corners are bit soft but this doesn't matter in real life...you can't compare it to lenses at 85mm!!! The more people hate it, the more I want it!

Either my reply was trying to ignore some basic laws of physics, or it was referring to the picture rather than the sensor.

If by "corners" you mean "details just a few cms away from the centre" then yes, only the "corners" are soft.

fmian: Kinda sad considering it's a Leica, fixed lens, and that the Xpro 1 + 35mm (closest match on the comparison tool) absolutely destroys it.

True that, but with the Fuji you'd look like a scrub who cannot afford a Leica.

"4 sample images from 4 random cameras...let's see if I can guess which one is the Leica X ! Ok the first one is clearly from a smartphone....second one looks good....third one looks good....fourth one is good too....let's check some details, like the eyes from the asian girl....well the smartphone pic looks soft, the other 3 are pretty sharp....but I'll give it to number 2! Yes, the second one is surely the Leic....what, so it was the first one?".
Oh well, it must have a lot of character.
