In Lightroom (7.3+) and ACR (10.3+) you may use Olympus Art Filters Profiles to mimic Watercolor I & II filters. It's not a question of contrast, but seems you need eliminate Blacks totally.

There are 26 variants of HDR/LDR as I know, but the LUTs and profiles work without halos and posterization, both Aurora and Photomatix give the huge artefacts.
