LG Innotek always operated independently of the phone division. They have long been one of the major phone camera module integrators for other phone manufacturers. It was always expected that the...

Oh, whoops! My memory failed me. You are right!

HERO8 Black uses a unique battery that is not shared with any of the other cameras. If you want to use your batteries, another HERO8 is your only option.

It is a log curve. Why GoPro marketing decided to call it "Flat" many years ago, I don't know. Full disclosure: I work for GoPro

Try pointing the scratched lenses at the sun, or another very bright light source. When the sun's rays are incident on a scratch you'll see what we call "lancing flare", a streak of light.

It's not a lens design issue. It appears to be a test escape. As GoPro's Director of Optical Systems, I can tell you that we care very much about it. That's why the correct course of action is to ...

You can get streaks like that from apertures with rough edges, but a lot of work went in to significantly improving that in GoPro cameras some years ago using some apertures with a special ...

Are those taken WITHOUT the lens cover glass? If they are, it's not a lens element scratch, as those are localized.

Those photos look really great! Reelsteady won't correctly stabilize this footage as it does not know the lens distortion in this case. Reelsteady needs both IMU data and to know the precise lens ...

This looks to be a scratch on a lens element. Please contact customer support for an exchange and so this unit can be torn down to find the root cause.

It kind of works in HERO10 with Max Lens Mod mode enabled without the actual accessory, but as I said it the comments to that video: "If you use Max Lens Mod mode without the lens, the...

Do you have a reference to a paper on QBC demosaic artifacts?

Because it squares. A 2x2 sub-cell of 1.22µm pixels is binned to make one 2.44µm x 2.44µm super pixel. That reduces the resolution by 2^2 = 4. So 48MP -> 12MP.

Yes, I remember that one. Clearly the decision process to build a $10k pro digital camera was different from the one for a consumer point and shoot. I don't believe they were even from the same...

That was a year after the Apple QuickTake 100, and probably ~3 years after the first QuickTake project was kicked off.
-
@photoaddict That's what the person who led the development at Kodak told me. If I recall correctly, Kodak approached Apple with the idea.
-
Interesting fact: the Apple QuickTake was developed by Kodak, who at that point would not put the Kodak name on a digital camera.
