D7000ShooterUK: I wonder if they will sell many of these in the UK when the X-T200 is basically the same thing but with the addition of an EVF for only £50 more.

The generation of smartphone users dont really care about VFs, i even se a lot of young people shoot DSLRs looking at the screen and for shooting clips svreen is a better option.

Jonathan Mac: Nice review, looks like a very good little camera. It strikes me as strange though to recommend shooting cropped jpegs just because the aspect ratio matches that of the screen. I think it's far better to use the full size of the sensor and crop if required.

Yeh... Always shoot full resolution. Its far better to crop and adjust angle of your composition to perfection later..

Well... Its hard to detect sarcasm in written form most of the time...
Anyway, human vision is sharp enough to detect small detail in an arc that is about 50°. The rest of its 60°–70° detects only big objects and movement (les and less as you move from the center), even color vision degrades quickly after that so take that information as you want...

raztec: For those who've used this camera and other old SLRs like the Nikon FM2, if you were to purchase one today, which would you buy and why?

I still have a Pentax DA 35mm and Catzeyes split prism focusing screen for Pentax APSC DSLRs. Cant even give them away. Thats how much pentax is worth now days...
Sad, because their film SLRs were really competitive.

Well maybe you hade a too used camera then :)
Old Nikons had the reputation of best built and most reliable cameras bar none.

Of course - this latest experiment with big lenses didnt really pay off. People theses days want portability or they will rather bring a smartphone with them. What good is a 50mm prime if you need a lens collar for it :/

Your anecdotal evidence means nothing. I for example prefer front row of the balcony in theaters for best viewing experince.

@izla - the thing is - you can actually see the whole 80" screen from 2m away, the 120" one you cant.

Love Photography 888: f1.4 is a bit on the slow side in 2020. Time for these companies to challenge themselves and produce some f1.2 lenses.

Size and weight is the real issue here. Just look at all the new 50mm 1.4 lenses its getting ridiculous. Even this new 85 will carry more bulk than most people want to carry around.

@ilza - who the hell watches a 120" screen from 2m away? :/
you couldn.t see the whole screen from that close...

Nikon made best film SLRs with a proprietary mount, on the other hand, Pentax made best M42 SLRs... so it pretty much depends at what lenses you are aiming at.

A mobile phone has replaced my digital camera for some time now. Yes even for some of the commercial work I do.
And now if i want a tanglinle feel of photohraphy I resort to film cameras.
When I started digital I was amazed how real photos look, but as time passed by I got annoyed by its surgical look (even if i could alter it in pp) and began to cherrish that film look with all its cute color shifts and (good looking) grain.

Hellraiser: Someone willing to start a crowdfunding campaign for a new film camera? :)

Yeh, i was looking at that the other day. I just have few gripes with the design. The lightmeter seems to be on the camera body, not the ttl type? It doesnt have any info about the focusing screen. If it havent got a split screen its kinda useless. But other than that looks good. Hoping that some major camera maker does something similar. Richoh started a crowdfunding campaign for some 360 camera. Would be good if they did that for a film camera.

yeh, as much as i love vintage gear i am yet to find a camera with working meter and it is clunky to have to use the external meter in one hand and camera in other :/
