Hellraiser: Cant wait till more computational photography features start appearing in proper cameras. There wont be any need more for sensors larger than 4/3 for most of us.

Every measurement done say smaller sensors have faster readout speeds. Thats all there is to say here...

But the bigger sensor dont have the readout speed to utilise the computational photography algorithms to the fullest.
Anyway 1" sensors with CP would greatly surpass standard FF cameras so i dont see the need for added bulk FF would carry.

I am in tears as my beloved Pentax brand is old and has had a pre-existing condition for some time!!

Yeh, depends what they want to do with them. No reason to retire a name, but if a line with that name is generating losses, they will not look twice to cut it off...

if it generates loses and the future forecast isnt shiny, yes it does make sense to get rid of it from business perspective. Why invest in something and take valuable resources when they can be redirected elsewhere. Wouldn't you fix a pipe that leeks drop after drop of water in your house?

I have a Camon 12 phone. It is a $150 phone. Camera suits my needs more then well. And ive done some commercial shots on few sub $200 phones... most of the photos these days are seen on 6" screens. Hard to see the difference between a cheap and high end phones on those. And even if you compare a $3000 camera and a cheap phone on those kind of screens you wont see much benefit of the proper camera.

@ilza - what sre you implying? That I dont usually go to IMAX when i go see a movie?
And im still pretty sure directors dont take into account those folks that like to stare to just part of a screen. Probably never will. Too many variables to bother with that.

I dont really think directors take that kind of things into consideration :)
Looking from far too close really hinders what one sees in the movie. Ive never seen a movie that would convince me otherwise.

As you move the center of vision to the one side of the screen you lose the area of critical vision from the other. Id never go with anything more than 50° its just borderline useless...

Jonathan Mac: Nice review, looks like a very good little camera. It strikes me as strange though to recommend shooting cropped jpegs just because the aspect ratio matches that of the screen. I think it's far better to use the full size of the sensor and crop if required.

Yeh, especially if you take them in portrait orientation
