ms18: The only APS-C camera I'd buy is Fuji for it's lenses.
At least except Canon all others have 1.5x crop factor so third party lenses comes in handy.
Unless Canon release following lenses I have no interest in Canon APS-C. Others might have other lens requirement. Or else these APS-C camera can only be used by beginners who'll never upgrade lenses or Wildlife and sports shooters.
I want
RF-S 10mm f/2.8
RF-S 22mm f/1.4
RF-S 53mm f/1.4
Others might want.
RF-S 15-44 f/2 IS
RF-S 31mm f/1.4
RF-S 15mm f/1.4
canon you chose 1.6x then provide lenses.
On a personal note i think canon make very good lenses than any one else if they wish.
But as usual they use APS-C as a trap to push people towards Full frame
@OrigamiCactus yes I missed that one, however it's only one option while there are many 20/1.8 lenses for ff native and adapted. So... crop is dead end except for birding in lower price range. Been there so I know first hand.

I was doing the same thing, buying f/1.4 lens for crop camera, what a fail. f/1.8 lenses on ff are much better price and performance wise. Imagine 14/1.4 lens on crop camera you'd have to buy to match performance of 20/1.8 lens on ff. What a monstrosity that would be, if physics of this universe even allow such construction.
bwana4swahili: Sounds a bit like the $4,000 I payed for a 5 MB harddrive back in the 70's. Wait a couple of years for the 6,000 GB card for the same price.
Yea, looking forward to buy Nikon D5 in about 30 years on same garage sale for 20$
I read some comments on this forum saying Nikon will never make Z only teles because new mount does not offer any optical advantages and this lenses can only be used on Z cameras which is a waste because of all dslr user base, while f lenses can be used by both systems. I guess they were wrong, just like when they said it's better to make f mount mirrorless :D
SteveAnderson: Thank you for the OOC jpg. It really should be this way always imo.
We can manipulate the RAW in 20 different programs a million different ways if we like.
It is pointless to show a RAW converted jpg.
Wait a second. OOC jpeg is converted RAW too. We can manipulate OOC jpeg in 20 different cameras using million different in camera settings.
Igor Sotelo: After discontinuing the A7 II (good riddance) and the A7R II, the Sony A7C was their least expensive FF camera, and is way more expensive than entry level Canon or Nikon’s.
I think that’s a huge mistake, unless the A7 III appears with a new much lower price. The A7 IV is now $2.500 camera, if I’m not mistaken?
But in the case of Canon, for $2.500 they dropped in 1DX III like speed, while Sony brings only marginal improvements over the A7 III.
@Malling I have original Z6, hardly ever missed focus using AF-C on moving subjects. Getting to know the camera and how to use focus modes helps.
Kharan: In the end, the original Nikon Z6 can do 95% of what either of these can at a stupidly lower price, and with a solid lens lineup that has no duds. It’s an easy choice for me.
If the lenses you need are those that are available than I don't see a problem with lens lineup. Do tell me, what lens you need that Nikon didn't make for Z mount? Half of Z mount lenses I wouldn't call expensive.
Terrible Photographer: This is extremely interesting, and I wonder if it makes the 24-70/4 a bit of a moot point.. Especially considering their retail prices are almost the same?
Would love to see one of these in person. Love that it's not collapsible.
Moot? Not at all.
I had to check the date on my phone, twice. How is Nikon Z9 best product of 2020?
Sacred: Does anyone know why Samyang doesn't make their manual lenses for Z and RF mount like Laowa?
@EXkurogane thx for the tip

Ying Yon: I was hoping they would publish which existing lenses handle 20 or 30 fps continuous action with full AF speed and precision? Maybe later.
What makes you think it's not all of them?
Shouldn't Z9 have green box for AF sensitivity. How is -4.5 better than -5?
82DMC12: I don't like the exposure comp dial losing its index markings. I often check the dial with the power off between shots to confirm I am back to +-0 after needing some adjustment for a special shot earlier. Yes I know you can make the screen show you the setting but it's pretty convenient to know where I'm at before powering up for the next shots.
Sony will solve that with firmware update.
Just in case, I tried powering on my Z6 and turns out it's still alive. One can never know with all the Z6 killer talk out there.
thisisbenji: Looks like the AF still isn’t up to par, RIP Nikon. /s
Oh
thisisbenji: Looks like the AF still isn’t up to par, RIP Nikon. /s
Oh but it is. Even if it's not, it still exceeds needs of 99% of the people on this forum lol
Searching: I wonder who thought of the "Master" for these lenses. Such a marketing baloney. What does Master really mean in this context?
@Entropius that's a huge contribution from Ken Rockwell for the whole photography industry.
Old Cameras: I’ve carried a D7100 with the 18-140 3.5-5.6 for years and it’s a decent combo with good range and compromises (weight, size, range). It gets decently close too and I see this lens gets down to 0.33x at 140mm and that’s enough to be useful. I’d like to see how this 18-140 compares to the F-mount version.
Some people in this comment section have already tested this lens. Maybe if you ask politely they can provide some answers.
papajohnny: The problem is that Nikon APS-C system is very rudimental and not attractive to most people. On the other hand, Z mount FF cameras and lenses are so so much better, and there is already 24-200mm lens, which is also much better than this one. So I don't know why Nikon would even waste time and resources designing something like that.
Where can I find your thorough review of this lens, sir?
