About me:

I'm taking pictures since over 45 years. Learned the handcraft by a landscape and architecture photographer. Rolleiflex, Mamiya RB 67, Nikonos IV, Sigma. Now I've come to Sigma SD1 M, Sony A900 and Zeiss. Almost with tripod.

  • I agree completely with Your observations and opinion. These pictures are really disappointing for me as owner of a SD1 M, especially the firs picture. They should have stayed with the Merril.

A very informative, exakt and complete answer. Thank you very much.

;-) At the moment in that very "scientific" and wordy thread we are shown *one single picture*, which is said to show moirée. But only if it is downsized. When you look at those unhappy grain bins ...
  • I do not own a DP2, but Sigma since over 10 years. I can't imagine, that there will be any moiré with Foveon sensors. They are stand of the art having no moire. I never saw moire on any of my ...
  • Same to me, xpatUSA! But I didn't want to disturb the thread with technical aspects: I am with Mac OS in the internet, and the Safari browser is "pimped" with several Ad blockers, traffic blockers ...
  • Hello Larry, thanks for your feedback! If one clicks once on a given image in the forum, the picture gets quite enlarged to a good size. Then (at least for me) it is the first glance which leads ...
  • I do want to thank you all commentators for their thoughts and impressions to that picture. I think specially "innocentius" contributed aspects which require more than one short glance to a given ...
  • This is a picture I do like very much. Although I'm more interested and dealing with contemporary art, I also share the fascination for the impressionist painting with their light flooded, outdoor ...
  • Very nice, well composed pictures with the unsurpassable color rendition of a foveon ... Exactly, what I always appreciate... I use Sigma cameras since SD 10 and you are right: the favorite is ...
  • it is not only the "calling home", but because the installer installs a whole bunch of "addditional software" which is not neccessary for running the Nik collection without informing the user. ...

I already stated in that forum, that this software is hooking in your computer system more than microsoft and others. I am on Mac OS, and after using the Nic collection for some time, I got aware, ...

If I see it right, it is not soo much more than with my SD1 Merrill. And with my SD1 there is a "true" Foveon imager and not such quirky mathematics in order to generate even more "pixels". :( Johannes
  • For a long time I was using Silver Efex Pro (from google), to, because of its stunning results. But then I noticed, that with SEP on Macintosh you are installing all "daemons" and spys from ...
  • I use to "develop" the ±0 picture "with all bells and whistles" in SPP (and export it as 16 bit tiff, normal size). Then I store the setup of that development in in SPP. Then I open all other pics ...
  • For sure I agree to your point of view, Kendall! And for sure I use to have printed my fine art pictures with maximum resolution and uprezzed with PSD to 1 x 1 meter@300 dpi... But at the very end ...
  • My knowledge of English language is in that moment not good enough to understand your thoughts even in their subtleties. Sorry about that. I think I can speak of myself as experienced with photo ...
  • I do own the 18–35, 1:1,8. Sorry. Besides it's great sharpness and besides of the fact that I use to have focussing difficulties since I use Sigma DSLRs, I'm very content with that lens. *If* you ...
