DOF and background blur are not the same. For DOF the f-stop matters. For far beyond background blur, the aperture FL/f _stop matters. (Considering the same object size in the frame)

I've had the 24-105/4 ART for DSLRs. The build quality is on par with any other manufaturer - really excellent. The opical quality depends on the lens. Sigma can design optically very good lenses,...

Selecting the person by moving the camera is nice an usefull in most cases. But when you have the camera fixed on a tripod you would also like buttons to select the person.

Other: 28-85/2.8 or even 30-90/2.8 up to 700 gramms

Don't forget: Prices in Europe include tax, those in the US don't.

That's a very restricted point of view. Portrait does not mean close-up. For full body shots you don't need or even want 85 mm. 35mm is good if you want ambient in the frame, 50 mm is fine for any ...

One attempt to answer your question: One reason might be that in the Sony-E-World there is more bases to discuss gear. Sony brough and still brings a lot of new stuff in the last years, everything ...

I don't get it. Do you already have the Sony 200-600 G? This would be the choice I guess. Also, if you accept 32 MP, that would be a crop-factor of 1,24 on the A1. So A1 with 200-600 with 32 MP ...

"Advice for replacement wife for camera" Sorry, that headline made me smile - as non native speaker it sounds like raplacing wife with camera :-)

Some people prefer f2.8 for better background separation. But in fact, the background separation of 70mm f2.8 and 105mm f4.0 is the same as the aperture is very similar (70/2.8 vs. 105/4). That ...

I guess the happy majority doesn't comment. I am very happy with it.

I compared both 16-35/4 two days ago. Actually, I prefer the power zoom against the mechanical zoom of the Sony-Zeiss - as a stills photographer only. Of course there are pros and cons, but I ...

Exactly, that's more or less my knowledge also, for Germany. I though it is similar in the EU, but here I am obviously wrong.

That would not be sufficient in Europe. People need to accept if you want to present their pictures to the public, e.g. here in the forum.

The JPG-settings (contrast, mode etc.) then again have also an influence on the histogram. If you want a better histogram, you need to have very flat JPGs, which again look very flat.

That's a shame: - full electronic shutter can cause distortion with moving subjects - first curtain electronic shutter can harm the bokeh with fast lenses and short shutter speeds - full mechanical ...

I'd like an excellent 15-30, but not f2. f2.8 or even f4 would be sufficient, and lighter in weight. That paired with a 30-90/2.8, and a 100-300/4 :-)

I am not sure if the flange distance makes any difference. I've put two 16mm tubes between camera and the Sony 50 mm FE macro, and got a magnification of 2x. It works.
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
