I had this camera and disappointing no filmware update to fix very annoying problem with no always on flash function with the flash that come with the camera.
not a suprise, cause dslr is facing so much pressure form the new camera phone. The image is getting rapid improve each model.
CameraLabTester: The nice thing about these camera brands (Samsung, Sony, etc), that are definitely NOT Canon and Nikon protocol, is that outstanding improvements come via FREE upgrades through software.
The big C and N will deliberately throttle the improvements on the next model down the line...
Good onya Samsung! and the other brands too!
.
Caniikon is like brother, they release product very similar to each and boring. No major innovation till is like 3 or 4 years like you do in most car company. But Sony, Panasonic and now Samsung change the game by release much needed innovation. We had phone that advance by double speed in every year so why can't camera.
Zeisschen: I don't own one but, great update! Samsung, Panasonic and Sony are truly leaving Canikon in the dust for video features!
I wished Sony would also offer WIFI firmware updates in the future. You can already download and install apps and their updates via WIFI, so why not the camera firmware? Given the problems that many have doing it via computer download and USB, this seems like a easier option...
Yeah, the wifi filmware update was a brilliant move by Samsung. Easy and simple to do. Canikon still has edge in better lens and image quality and focus speed. But mirrorless has come a long way and are neck to neck to caniikon no doubt.
Random Photographer: In the future, fanboys will wonder what this "Canikon" was as they partake in the Samsony wars.
I not a fan of canikon except their excellent focus system and battery that still most mirrorless can't take a crack except maybe top of the line Panasonic GH4.
snapa: If only a FW update could add an EVF and built-in flash, the NX500 would be a great little camera.
True, but there's no perfect camera. I rather have a touch screen than a view finder in my opinion. The flash that come separate is pretty compact enough that can stay there all there time.m Wish iit can bounce though.
Great news, can't wait to updated this for my nx500. The AF was terrible in low light, hoped the filmware increase drasmatic. I looking forward for the image capture for 4k video. This is what almost make me switch to Lumix G7. Perhaps is time to sell my 2 years old EOS M.
T6s would be great except there's already Canon 70D which has more feature and actually cheaper as well with import or bundle. I don't see the appearing of T6s when there's exit of 70d. There are test been that show 70d does better focus than t6s for some strange reason despite is the same system.
Note 4 does good job in good light, some time on par with S100 in my opinion. However low light is kinda terrible especially with no flash. 4k video is nice but you can't capture image like you can with lower resolution.
Problem is that Samsung had not drop any price at NX1 despite been out for a while. The $1300 price can get your a good refurb d610. and a open box a7 with the kit lens !
Wait till Sony A7000 which just around the corner, it will likely put this camera to shame. with EVF and better video function.
kevin_r: Price of Sony A77II is now only $998 with instant $200 rebate at Adorama.
So if anyone is new to DSLRs or wanted to switch anyway, there's an equally appealing camera for the same money. Just doesn't have a touch screen.
It was $899 earlier with the grip included. I just got the A77 II with 16-50mm F2.8 and the grip for $1500. I don't think the A77 II produce same sharpness, or low light as good as D7100 or D5300. However the AF speed is so fast and able to capture 12fps compare to 5fps that you would with the new D5500 make a lot of difference. Having a focus perking help in manual focus video and photo. Also ability to shoot panorama is very nice feature.
The D5300 is way overpriced consider the specs. Just wait till end of the year it drop 200 to 300 easily.
still 16 megal pixel?
Did Fuji forgot that Sony and Panasonic both release large sensor in similar compact body and also can change lens, $500 is ok in few yeas ago but not now.
This is would be good for Sony, Canon not so much.
Good specs, but they still got no answer for 70d video focus.
Overprice... Should have been ASPC sensor or price point under $1000.
No matter how you slice it, the bokeh is still weak is nothing dramatic different than those smaller sensor point and shoot. For that money i would just EOS M with pan cake 20mm for less than half the price.
Price of 50d is been going up almost $500 now.
