I didn't expect a land/sea scape when I wrote the theme. This is just so exceptional and it is the "host's pick". I find it both interesting and calming to look at. Thank you for entering! And congratulations on a Podium finish.

In reply to:

fotoselect: I withdraw my picture (29th place).
Apparently I did not understand the host's explanations nor the explanations on Google.
In most of the other participating photos I saw a lot of empty space and in my eyes "Negative Space" is ONLY visible in my photo.
Because I was wrong - I got out of the challenge.

I should ave said google "negative space photography". i noticed just googling "negative space" does not provide the same illustrations. I was wondering about your entry - and perhaps that's how you came up with it. I liked it none the less.

Darrell Spreen: This challenge restored my confidence. I personally gave high marks to #1,3,4,&5. They are excellent.

Agree, I think the top 10 really nailed it. Lot's of different ideas too

Glad to see this with a podium finish - The top 3 all illustrate the concept in different ways, and all worthy of a win. I really like this one. Thank you for entering and congratulations on the podium finish.

I am delighted to see most, if not all entries figured this type of photography out. Nice job to all who entered, and good luck.

Kcleeton: Are composites allowed in this challenge?

I don't specifically say no to composites, so that would be acceptable. I prefer to allow flexibility and creativity in post processing.

REHS: Thanks Barb,
This looks like a fun idea/challenge! I hope everyone carefully reads your criteria before submitting an image, and voting. Thanks for hosting, you're doing a great job!

Mike

I'll be happy if 40% figure it out. To veteran photographers, it will be easy.

chrisby: Dear Host,
could it be a set up from someone else or has it be my own set up?

By set up, I meant , create a scene that contains a knife. You certainly can have someone else help you with your idea for an entry. The current entries almost all represent the type of photo you should enter.

Buzz Lightyear: Personally, I think this should have been #1. It is sharp, nicely composed and an interesting image with a unique reflection. You would have acheived a winning rating if not for some lousy sandbagger that gave you a definitely unearned 2.

I also like this as the "host's pick". Superb image with terrific interest. That said, the 2 star voter voted on all, and his/her range was .5 to 2, so it was not sandbagging. He/she gave a 2 to the first 2 entries also.

cjf2: Congratulations winning in such an open subject challenge. It was my favourite but where were the other 5 star votes?

I know what happened. My title and definition contradicted - The title was what I meant and I typo'd the def. I opted to go with the title but some folks wanted me to DQ non F11 or F16 photos so my guess is they chose to vote based on that. I'm sure this would have ad a higher score if not for that. It's definitely a winner.

In this case, you just know all those 5's were honest votes. Voting histogram be dam@ed, this has 5 stars all over it and you don't see that too often here. Great work!

I made a mistake in the title vs the rule list. The title says F11-F16, not F11 or F16.

So F 11 F12 F13 F14 F15 F16 all acceptable and the type of camera and conversion to something else isn't Ok. The photo has to list the F stop and it needs to be in that range.
Sorry for the confusion.
