I am confused. If it is not 32K at 960fps why we are discussing it?

The level of detail is unsurpassed - same as the level of detail in a daguerreotype. Thank you, Roger!

Funny that a post about "Absolute Beginner" is illustrated with a $4K-$6K camera.

I am wondering was I invited to watch a camera shutter presentation or a piano performance? The background music is distracting and anxiety inducing. If there was a need for a background music at all - it should have been something smooth - ocean waves or new age or whatever to allow the attention to focus on the subject, not on the background.

mosc: Just amazing that such a thing exists and that a company can price it that high.

I have never longed for a 28mm prime, let alone one with such a mundane aperture as f2.0. 28 is not wide and it's not a "standard" and it's not fast. If Canon/Nikon/Sony made this lens and it cost $500 I'd still be puzzled at the focal range. 28mm f4 pancake maybe but a f2.0? 35mm and 24mm seem much more natural.

At 10x that price though... another level of amazing.

More amazing though is that DPReview was able to get a hand on the first of the two lenses produced.

When I switched from Zenith-12 (Russian manual camera) to Nikon 8008 in early 1990, it became achingly clear to me that the socialism will never win. A few months later the history proved me right.

A story from 1981. During the first Everest ascent by the first Bulgarian climbers ascent, they took with them several ‘Smena-8’ having prior to the climb removed with alcohol all lubricant from their moving parts. Thus, they were able to snatch gorgeous color photographs of their ascent with the ‘Smena-8’. The lubricant of the only ‘Leica’ M4 they also had at their disposal, froze at high altitude and the camera was inoperable.

And it's only $1,155.00 plus tax!
Almost free.
I'd buy five for Christmas gifts.

Considering that there are only two lenses in production, DPReview has achieved quite a feat by snatching the first one for review!

Could you give us a link for that price, thanks.

We should compliment DP Review for saying to Leica "The king wears no clothes" in such a polite, respectful manner.

Detached from reality 'Opinion'. The prices quoted may be valid for a very small percentage of those whose main source of income is photography, for others - you may be lucky to get $50 for a photo on a web-site regardless of its viewership. There are countless photos on social media sites for which no one is ever asking for permission, just credit: Facebook, Twitter, etc. "Depending on circulation, you could get up to $1,500 per photo" - this is daydreaming unless you are Annie Leibovitz or something.

To beat the competition, I will expect nothing less than (4-4-4) 16K internal video capabilities at 120 fps unlimited.
